OOTW: Mar.6- Mar.11

I did it. I documented my outfits for AN ENTIRE WEEK!! I’ll admit, instead of 7 outfits I only have 6… but that’s because I tend to wear nothing but pyjamas on at least one of my days off. Everyone needs a lazy day right? I’m sure you don’t care about my oversized high school gym t-shirt and Hello Kitty pyjama pants lol. Besides, every other day I managed to take a picture of my outfit and I’m quite proud that I found the time to do it! There were times where I thought I was going to be late for work because of it, but I was never late! Thank God! This was fun and if you guys would like me to do it again, I would love to! I think I’d prefer doing it again when I don’t have to layer up though. Most days I had to put on the shoes I wanted to wear with the outfit, take the picture, then take them off, pack them in my work bag, put on my winter accessories and boots, then run out the door! A lot of time wasted. In the Summer, I could snap the photo and go! Oh Summer. How I miss thee..

Here are the outfits I wore last week, with a description of what I’m wearing and where I got everything!

– SUNDAY, MARCH 5th, 2017 –

I wanted a cozy outfit to start my week. When I think cozy, I think of a sweater or a hoodie. I recently got this hoodie on sale for $10 and really wanted to wear it. Of course I didn’t just want to wear a hoodie and jeans (boring!!), so I put my own spin to it. I added a dress as an extra layer (you’ll know I love this look if you read my last blog post!), some modern dangly earrings, and some heeled sock boots to dress it up a bit more. I didn’t want to look too casual!! :p Anyways, this is definitely one of my favourite outfits that I wore last week. It’s different and for some reason I felt comfortable and more myself in this outfit. I don’t know about you guys but if I’m feeling my outfit, I tend to be in a better mood. Am I the only one?

[ Everything I’m wearing is from Topshop, besides the earrings. The earrings are from Free People and are my latest obsession! ]

MONDAY, MARCH 6th, 2017

Another thing you guys should know about me (because I did a blog post on this too!!) is that I LOVE STRIPES! This outfit was dedicated to my love for stripes. “Go big or go home”, right? I combined horizontal and vertical stripes. I think this pairing works because the stripes vary in thickness and the colours contrast well. The stripes were a big enough statement so I kept the shoes white and just threw on my leather jacket. I was a little hesitant leaving my house this way to be honest, but I got great feedback that day! I’m definitely going to experiment with stripes more.

[ Everything is from Topshop, besides my sneakers. I got my sneakers from Foot Locker, they’re Nike Air Force Ones. ]

TUESDAY, MARCH 7th, 2017

I had this day off. If we’re being serious, I just threw this outfit together before going out to grab some donuts from my favourite bakery down the road. I didn’t shower or anything. I tossed it together, stuck glasses on my face, then took off! When I got back, it was back into my pyjamas for me lol. This look is probably one of my go-to’s. Mom jeans, a plain top, and a statement jacket = good to go!

[ All the clothes are from Topshop. Glasses are from BonLook. Sneakers are white (actually, not-so-white) Converse high-tops from SoftMoc. ]

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8th, 2017

After a day off, I always come back to work feeling “fresh”. I feel like my mind has relaxed and all my creative juices are flowin’, hence the vibrant outfit. This is bold. This is a lot of color. But like I said in my “SS17 Trend Guide”, fuchsia is getting all the love this season. I LOVE my fuchsia trousers. I don’t know why, but I feel like the red and purple compliment fuchsia pretty well. Don’t you think? Maybe because fuchsia is kind of a mixture of the two? Idk ha-ha. Also, do we like my white frilly socks? I thought they were a cute touch!

[ Everything is from Topshop, but my loafers are Jeffrey Campbell from Duet. ]

THURSDAY, MARCH 9th, 2017 –

A write off lol. (Pyjama Day)

FRIDAY, MARCH 10th, 2017

(Happy Birthday, Dad!) This was my ‘Fashion Friday’ outfit. We had to come to work dressed as one of the three trend departments that we have at Topshop. They’re named after girls. There’s the “Pretty Girl”, “Urban Girl”, and the “Stylist Girl”. Each girl is different. I had to dress like the Pretty Girl. It’s basically a department with all our ruffles, embroidered denim, bell sleeves, and floral dresses. Have to say I love how my hair turned out this day. Wavy and kind of “natural-looking”? I achieved my hair goals and it probably won’t ever happen again :(( Also! I love my boots.

[ Everything is from Topshop (go figure!), but the tights are a random brand from Shoppers Drug Mart. ]

SATURDAY, MARCH 11th, 2017

Last day of the week, so I decided to wear a fancy piece/go out with a “bang!” This is a $125 dress that I got for $20. I normally wouldn’t gravitate towards a piece like this because it’s long and I’m afraid of my making myself look any shorter, but I went for it because I loved this mix of patterns! I also don’t have ANYTHING like this in my wardrobe. I think this dress will be great in the Summer. I could throw on a floppy hat or some sneakers. I could wear it with Birkenstocks. I could dress it up too! I could wear strappy heels or some wedges! It makes me want to buy more dresses like this!! Either way, I will definitely get more than my $20 worth from this dress, so I am verrry pleased with this purchase :))

[ EVERYTHING IS FROM TOPSHOP (I’m sorry lol!) ]

OK! Those are my outfits that I wore last week. I hope you found them interesting? It feels a little weird sharing photos of what I wore everyday for the past week. YOU CAN SEE A BIT OF MY ROOM. *gasp* This type of post is a little bit more personal because you get to really see my style/taste. I really hope you guys like it!

I also hope that you’re having a great start to your week! Happy Monday, everybody 🙂

DIY Frayed-Hem Jeans

I’m here with something new and exciting! Like I’ve said in my previous post, I’ve been really motivated and determined lately. That means that I’m also motivated and determined to blog more and come up with some different content! In today’s post, I’m going to share with you a little do-it-yourself project that I did the other day. I DIY’d my own pair of frayed-hem jeans!

I got this sick pair of gray straight-leg jeans from work for $10. That’s right TEN DOLLARS. When I bought them they were waaay too long for me, but they fit perfectly around my waist! For $10, I racked my brain for an idea on how I could make them work. I mean, I could have got them hemmed for another $10 but who wants to do that?! Lol, not me!! I decided to hem them myself, and even better, I decided I wanted a FRAYED hem. We sell them at Topshop for almost $100. I love them and wanted them until I realized I could probably make them myself!! So I did and now here we are. Not only am I going to show you how they turned out, but I’m going to show you how I made them in case you guys want to try doing this yourselves! Here we go!

Things you’ll need:

dscn25311

  1. Jeans – you could use an old pair, or even thrift a pair!
  2. Scissors (preferably fabric scissors, but I lost mine..)
  3. Tweezers
  4. Pencil or Chalk
  5. Measuring Tape

Step One:

dscn25341

Lay out your jeans and measure them to your desired length. Then draw a line for yourself to follow while you cut! Keep in mind that you’re going to need an inch or so for the frayed part. Side note: It looks like I cut off three inches from the bottom of my jeans.. I ended up cutting an extra inch. #shortgirlproblems Also, you don’t NEED to measure it out, draw a line, etc. If you’re comfortable eye-balling it, by all means go for it!! It’ll probably look more natural if you do it that way. I’m just a neat freak.

Step Two:

dscn25391

If you’ve measured where you want to cut them, cut away! If you’re eye-balling it, cut away! *TIP: Try the jeans on after! See where they sit! If you want them shorter, measure it out and cut some more!

Step Three:

dscn25441

Take your measuring tape again and measure from the bottom of your jeans to where you’d like your fraying/fringe to start. I measured one and a quarter inch. Draw another line across then instead of cutting across, cut up towards that line and make even little strips. BE CAREFUL NOT TO DESTROY A SIDE SEAM. That may cause you problems in the future!

Step Four:

dscn25511dscn25531

Take a good and close look at one of those little strips. You’ll notice that there are threads going vertically and horizontally. This is how we’re going to make it fray. Loosen up the threads a bit with your fingers. Then take your tweezers and start to pull away all the horizontal/white threads until you each the end of the strip. We don’t want those guys! Do this to every strip all the way around the leg.

This is what it should look like once you’ve done a few strips:

dscn25611

And once you’ve finished all the strips on BOTH legs, this is what they’ll look like!! 🙂

dscn25701

I’m so happy with how these turned out. I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I had a lot of fun putting this together. If you’d like more DIYs, let me know in the comment section below!

Happy Tuesday!

Outfit: Gucci Inspired

Yo, and hello! I am very, very, very happy to finally be saying that I HAVE AN OUTFIT POST TO SHARE. Thanks to my friend Ken (Instagram: @kenifromtheblock), I have some shots of an outfit I wore earlier this week!! This particular outfit was inspired by a look I found while browsing the internet. It was a photo of some looks from Fashion Week last year. I was more so loving the center picture/the Gucci look, so I chose to try and recreate it. (I loooove Gucci!) Here’s the photo:

fall_winter_2016_2017_fashion_trends_pussybow

Now my take isn’t as colourful or “out there” as Gucci’s, which I think is what makes my look a bit more wearable. I really like the look of the “pussybow” (it’s what they call it, I swear!). I get Parisian vibes and it makes the look feel a bit more classy/sharp. It’s definitely more feminine and romantic as well. This has me pretty sure that I want to add a blouse with a pussybow to my wardrobe. For my version of the look, I used one of those skinny scarves from Zara and tried to tie it the same way as the picture. My scarf wasn’t as structured as the one in the inspiration photo, but I think it still kind of worked! I was also obsessed with the sleeves of the top from the Gucci look, and I had the perfect sweater to recreate it. Now here’s my take on the Gucci “Pussybow” look!

img_4851img_4850img_4852img_4857

What do you think? Do YOU like the look? Did I do alright at recreating it? I kind of enjoyed recreating a look from the runway and making it more wearable. Should I do a post like this again? I would love your feedback!

I hope you’re all having a great week so far! I wanna thank Ken again for taking pictures! You all should go check out his Instagram! He’s got great style! (www.instagram.com/kenifromtheblock)  Happy Wednesday/hump day!

Until next time,

Currently Loving (&HAPPY NEW YEAR!)

Hey friends! I’m currently a victim of a terrible stomach bug, and have isolated myself in my room with nothing to do. I can’t sit around and do nothing, so I thought I’d be productive and share a blog post! I kind of lost track of my “December Inspiration” and therefore I’ve decided to just share inspiration photos/photos of things I’m “currently loving”. I’ll probably continue to do monthly inspiration posts for 2017 because I like to see how my taste evolves throughout the year. I am going to put a stop to “Wardrobe Additions” though. As much as I liked the idea, I feel like it has encouraged me to shop more. I’ll go shopping and think: “I love this! And I could add it to my Wardrobe Additions for the month, so that’s even better!” So basically I was buying (or thinking of buying) even more clothes just for blog content. Definitely not the kind of mentality I should have if I want to save my money, pay off student loans, and travel. I have plenty of clothes that I can remix and re-style. I think that’s the great part about fashion and personal style. It works for any budget, and it’s more about how you express yourself than if you have the latest trendy piece. So here are some photos that inspire my current taste in fashion/style, and also some photos that I just loove right now:

There you have it! A quick post on what’s currently inspiring me style-wise. I know it’s not much, but it’s something! A new year’s resolution of mine if to be more consistent with blogging and to really (like actually) start my YouTube channel. I will keep you guys updated!

And until then, I hope you all had happy holidays and I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store!

Have a great weekend (hope your Friday is going better than mine!),

Blue Suede Shoes

Hi everyone! I’m back with a post that is all about one pair of shoes. If that doesn’t tell you how much I love them, I don’t know what else will ha-ha. These are my favourite shoes of Summer 2016. Why? Well, let me tell you.

Let me start off by saying that my feet are tiny. I have baby feet. I am lucky if a woman’s size 5 shoe fits me, and if that doesn’t fit, I usually buy the kid’s version. These gorgeous blue suede mules are from Topshop. If you guys don’t already know, I work there Full Time now. I’ve been an employee for almost two years and not once did I ever find a pair of shoes that fit me perfectly. Of course, I’ve bought shoes from Topshop before but I had to buy insoles to make them fit properly. The smallest shoe size that Topshop carries in Canada is typically a 5.5. When I saw these mules, they came in size 4.5! So obviously, I felt like I had to buy them because never again will this happen. Like I’m telling you, the fact that we had a pair in a size 4.5 is a HUGE rarity. So yeah, I bought them. Duh. And I love them. Double Duh.

I wear them with almost anything. You would assume that because they’re blue, which is not necessarily a neutral colour, they wouldn’t go with much. Like I’ve said, they actually go well with a lot. I love pairing them with denim. I love how they can make a boring outfit more fun. They’re a great little pop of colour and definitely different from the rest of the shoes in my closet. ALSO, they’re comfortable! I can do a full shift with these guys on and it will be bearable.

It’s sad that Summer has come to an end and I probably won’t wear them again for a while. But I hope you guys love these shoes as much as I do! If not, maybe you’ve enjoyed my passion for them? I am very passionate about these shoes and I can’t wait to wear them again next year.

Hope you guys are having a fabulous Monday!

Until next time,

– A ❤

Kensington Market

Hi! I’m still here!! I’m working full-time now so I’ve been a little drained lately. So drained that I’ve been too lazy to really keep up with my blog. By now, you guys should know that I’ll never really disappear for good. Blogging is something I love doing, and I don’t think I’ll ever quit it. Don’t worry! ;D

Today’s post is of a trip downtown Toronto to Kensington Market. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s an older neighbourhood that is very fun and diverse. It’s different and filled with creativity! The neighbourhood is full with houses that have been turned into shops/restaurants. There’s a lot of vintage clothing stores, cute coffee shops, fresh produce, and restaurants like a Big Fat Burrito that we went to for dinner that was pretty good! I went with some co-workers, Will (who you’ve seen in my previous post!) and Deniz (https://www.instagram.com/letsdenizme/). If you are ever visiting Toronto, I definitely recommend visiting Kensington Market.

White&Denim

Why hello there! I’m excited to say that I’m back with something different for you guys! I teamed up with a few friends, found a colorful location downtown Toronto, and we took some fun pictures that I’d love to share. This specific location had the cutest crates in a few different colours. They ended up being the perfect backdrop. We also agreed on wearing denim and white. You all know how much I love that combination ;D The photographers behind these lovely photos are Mark Gomez and Jasmine Cabanilla. Also joining us was my fellow Topshop/Topman associate, Will Prowse. I’ll link their Instagram accounts down below! Definitely check them out!
