Skincare Review: Youth To The People

Hi there! I wanna start this post off by saying I have never done one of these before. I’m trying my best to give you my opinion (which isn’t the right or wrong opinion, just an opinion!) and I hope it can be helpful to some of you! Another thing you must know is that I’m not very experienced when it comes to skincare. I am very fortunate to not have that problematic of skin. Like everyone, I do get pimples. And I would say that my skin type is combination-oily. I have had pretty bad reactions to some products so I think it’s safe to also say that I have sensitive skin as well.

I won the Youth To The PeopleThe Youth Minis Kit” at work way back in March, and I posted it on my Instagram story asking if you guys would like a review of the products. Most of you said yes, so here I am! I did record a YouTube video to go with this blog post so if you would prefer to watch a video instead of reading the rest of this post, I’ll leave the link here:

Like I said, I got this kit in March and I thought about reviewing them right away (like after two weeks). But then I thought that they’re only minis and therefore it probably won’t take long to go through them, so why not wait to review them after they’re empty? LITTLE DID I KNOW that it would actually take THREE MONTHS to go through them! Not complaining but I definitely didn’t mean to keep you guys waiting this long (tbh it’s like 6 or 7 months now, I’m sorry lol). I’m such a newbie when it comes to skincare that I didn’t realize how a little goes a long way with most skincare products. I’m glad I used them all up though because I’m more confident in sharing my thoughts.

So here’s what’s in the kit and what I’ll be reviewing today!

YTTPKale + Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Cleanser

YTTPMaqui + Açai Prickly Pear Goji Superberry Hydrate and Glow Oil

YTTPSuperfood Air-whip Moisture Cream

YTTPAdaptogen Moisture Cream

YTTP – Superberry Hydrate and Glow Dream Mask

Before I continue, I do want to say that all of their products are amazing. I liked some more than others. I have already repurchased the full-size jar of one of these products from this kit. What I really want to say is that overall they are clean, sustainable, and vegan products. I think that that itself says great things about their brand. There’s a bit of relief knowing that there aren’t any or as many bad things in these products as there are in most skincare products. The box says that they’re free of: parabens, sulfates, phthalates, pegs, mineral oil, silicones, and artificial colours! If this is something of value to you, I highly recommend that you check out their website:! They are also sold at Sephora so you can check there as well.

Now let’s talk about the products!

YTTPKale + Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Cleanser

This cleanser didn’t “wow” me, I’ll be honest about that. I think the only reason I’d repurchase this cleanser is if I was adamant on having a cleanser in my routine that’s clean, sustainable, and vegan. These are amazing things, don’t get me wrong! But I needed to use this cleanser 2 to 3 times to feel like my face was fully clean. Maybe I wasn’t using it right (I honestly don’t doubt it). I probably should use some kind of makeup remover before using a cleanser but that’s what I mean. I typically look for a cleanser that’s really going to CLEAN my face. I don’t want a bunch of steps. I get tired and lazy most nights before bed so I need something quick and easy, but will still do the job. This cleanser was unfortunately, not it.

YTTPMaqui + Açai Prickly Pear Goji Superberry Hydrate and Glow Oil

I’ve never tried an oil before! I think the reason I’ve kind of stayed away from them is because my skin generally produces enough oil that I don’t think anymore oil is necessary lol. I did give this a try though. I found it really sticky. When I first tried it, I was a little put off by it. I really want to say I saw glow-y-ness but I don’t even know if I did. It was really fun to try but I don’t think it’s something I care enough about to keep in my routine.

YTTPSuperfood Air-whip Moisture Cream

All of the moisturizers impressed me. They definitely exceeded my expectations. If I were to repurchase a certain type of product from Youth To The People, it’d be 100% their moisturizers. The Superfood Air-whip Moisture Cream is the moisturizer that they recommended using during the daytime. It’s very light but still hydrating. I absolutely loved it. It made my skin feel great underneath makeup. Even for days where I didn’t want to wear makeup, putting on this moisturizer gave me confidence and not a lot of moisturizers do that! Also, the hydration definitely left me feeling glow-y.

YTTPAdaptogen Deep Moisture Cream

This is much like the daytime moisturizer except that it’s meant for the nighttime. Again, no complaints. A great moisturizer. It didn’t “wow” me but it got the job done. Like the cleanser, I would maybe think a bit more about this one. I would only go back to it and use it for the clean and healthy ingredients. Those of you that are healthy and clean are probably thinking I’m an absolute idiot for not prioritizing this and I’m sorry! I just love that “wow” factor/feeling and this one didn’t give me that.

YTTP – Superberry Hydrate and Glow Dream Mask

THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING. No exaggeration here, folks! I am honestly obsessed with this mask. I also have to admit that I treat it more like a nighttime moisturizer so the Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream didn’t stand a chance. I currently own the full-size jar of this one. It was a no-brainer for me that I needed to keep this product in my routine/life. It does exactly what the name says. When I wake up, I feel as if I am looking at the skin of a newborn baby – no joke! My skin looks so hydrated, so soft, and it’s actually glowing! I cannot recommend or say enough good things about this product. I think you guys need to go pick this up right now.

All in all, I think these were all great for my skin. I didn’t have any bad reactions. I think they left my skin healthy, glow-y, and hydrated (ESPECIALLY the Superberry Hydrate and Glow Dream Mask!!!). Again, these are just my thoughts and opinions. What do I know? The best way to find out is to try them yourself! I definitely encourage you guys to check out their website if you want to learn more about the Youth To The People brand. “The Youth Minis Kit” is a great way to try a little bit of everything without committing or paying the price of a full-size container. It’s sold at Sephora for $59 CAD!

I hope you enjoyed this review! If you would like me to review some other products, I would be happy to if you want to leave them in the comment section below. If you have anything to add that’s unrelated to a review, I’m also always open to new suggestions/blog post ideas!

Hope you’re all having a great weekend! (It’s raining so I’m going to finish reading my book ;))

Shedding Summer

One of the things that I struggle most with during the transition from summer to fall is the fact that I have to wear pants. I’ve been really great with buying comfy pants during quarantine so I think I’ll be okay, but I still dislike it nonetheless. Pants are so restricting! I also dislike socks. I’m currently on the hunt for cute and cozy socks because all of my current pairs look like rubbish. Got any recommendations? I have some in my Urban Outfitters cart but they’re still $10 a pair! Does that seem unreasonable to you as well, or am I just cheap lol?

Anyways, the reason I’m writing is to share with you another outfit featuring one of my favourite pairs of pants at the moment. Not only do I love the stretchy waistband but I love this pleated texture and of course, it’s in a snake print! These pants are helping me shed the summer and slither into fall. Like what I did there lol? I’m seeing a lot of snakes, tigers, and zebras this season. I have a lot of other trends that I’m on the hunt for and I’ll be sharing a blog post all about them very soon! Stay tuned!

These pants are from the TOPSHOP Petite section (duh)! They fit so perfectly and they go with so many other pieces that are already in my wardrobe. I honestly didn’t expect them to fit so well but they do! I can pair them with absolutely anything: crewnecks, graphic t-shirts, cardigans, crop tops, bodysuits, etc.! They’re super versatile and they also make my butt look GREAT. Would I ever lie to you? Seriously, you need to get a pair of these!

For this outfit, I wore the pants with a top I got from work (Free People). I love the subtle stripes on it because it allowed me to mix prints! They’re both in neutral colours so I think they complimented each other really well. For a pop of colour, I added my first ever Nunoo bag. It’s in the best shade of pink. This bag has so much sentimental value that I will never get rid of it. It was a birthday gift from my boyfriend and I remember being super happy about it (and I still am)! To make this outfit more casual, I just added some $2 flip flops from Old Navy. For jewelry, I added some of my favourite Mejuri pieces, a Durumi necklace, and my Apple watch! I was really afraid that my Apple watch was going to be a waste of money because I find it pretty sporty-looking and just not my taste. But I got this strap from Etsy and I freaking love it! I think it’s so much more me and it really helps make the Apple watch look less tech-y and sporty (at least in my opinion). The final piece to this outfit is this cute headband from Durumi (@thedurumi). You guys know how much I love this Korean boutique downtown on Queen St. West. This headband is so cute and trendy and when I was shopping their website for more facemasks, I just had to have it!

Ugh! As I look back at these photos, I’m being reminded of how much I’m going to miss having exposed toes!!! It hurts but that’s the way it goes ha-ha. #rhymed #poet #didntevenknowit

I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend! I also hope you all have a great start to your week! :))

Until next time,

Review: Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty

Before I begin, I just wanted to let you all know that I uploaded a YouTube video of me unboxing and giving my first impressions of the products that I picked up from Selena Gomez’s new makeup line: Rare Beauty!

Here’s a link:

It was super fun to record. I have done it a few times on Instagram but I’m glad I decided to put one on YouTube for a change. I was thoroughly impressed with these products just from the little tests that I did on camera, but I’ve been using them for a couple of weeks now and thought it would be nice to share my final thoughts!

The products I picked up were:

Soft Pinch Matte Liquid Blush in Grace

Soft Pinch Dewy Liquid Blush in Joy

Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight in Mesmerize

With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in Thankful

With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in Blessed

Lip Soufflé Matte Cream Lipstick in Inspire

Now as I’m writing this, I’m realizing that I never took photos of the lip products actually on my lips (except for Inspire). I really need to properly figure out this whole “beauty blogger” stuff lol. I just love makeup, ok?! I’m learning as I go but you can get a better look of them on me in the YouTube video!

Let’s begin!

Soft Pinch Matte Liquid Blush in Grace$26 CAD

I was very much influenced by the photos on Rare Beauty’s Instagram page (@rarebeauty) of Selena wearing this blush herself. It just looked so natural and pretty. I love the natural look and I’ve never tried a matte liquid blush like this before so I thought, why not try it out? Overall, I really love this colour. It’s like a pink but I see a little bit of purple in there, so maybe it’s a fuchsia of some sort? Compared to the other blush that I’ll talk about next, I find this one to be a lot more subtle. It’s not as intimidating. I think I’ll probably get a lot of wear out of it in the winter. I find it a little more sheer than the dewy liquid blush, which is nice and less worrisome. The doe foot applicator is in a very generous size but I also love it. At times I will admit that I think I could use something about half the size of it, just because the product itself is so opaque that I require like, the tiniest dot.

Soft Pinch Dewy Liquid Blush in Joy – $26 CAD

This blush is much like the matte liquid blush. The consistency is the same. However, because the colour is very close to red, I find that this one is super opaque in comparison. I have to be very careful when applying this blush or I’ll look like a little lobster lol. The finish is obviously different as well. The other dries into a matte finish and this one is definitely dewy-er. Although this blush makes me nervous, I find that I’m gravitating towards this one more. I think it looks better with my tan (that thankfully has not started to fade away yet lol).

Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight in Mesmerize – $29 CAD

This is my first time using a liquid highlighter in a long time. I think the last one I used was Benefit’s “High Beam” in high school. I don’t know why I stopped using liquid highlighter, but I’m really glad that I picked this one up! The shade “Mesmerize” is a very pretty rose gold colour. Actually, now that I think of it, it’s kind of similar in colour to Benefit’s “High Beam” lol. Anyways, this one by Rare Beauty is great. I’m not disappointed by it but I’m not wow’d by it either. I love the size of it. I love the packaging! The size of it is so satisfying because I think it will last a really long time. I had a fear of using it and having it drag around all the makeup I have on underneath, but that wasn’t the case. It’s a beautiful subtle highlight. If you want a showstopper, maybe this one isn’t it.

With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in Thankful – $21 CAD

I mentioned in my video that these lip balms weren’t getting many positive reviews. I think people were like, “It’s just another lip balm. They’re whatever.” And they’re not wrong! I am for a fact, a huge lip balm girl so I quite like them. I think the colours I got are perfect for when I need them. I love that light wash of colour just to stop me from looking dead lol. This colour “Thankful” is the perfect colour for me. It’s a brown shade that I tend to always gravitate to, but it never fails me! There isn’t a smell or taste to them. But I’m happy with the formula and I’m very happy with the shade of it. One thing I have to admit is that I think the packaging should have been in any colour but white/cream! I know that it’s going to get scuffed and all my dirty finger prints are going to get all over it but c’est la vie.

With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in Blessed – $21 CAD

I was shocked at how much I liked this colour on me! It is very pink but I think that because it’s a lip balm, it’s okay. It’s not super opaque and intimidating, and I think I could wear this daily (depending on the outfit)! Not much else to say about it really. I’ll be honest and say I have worn it maybe once since the YouTube video. I’m gravitating way more towards “Thankful” and I think you can tell by the photo of it (can you see how smushed it is ha-ha?).

Lip Soufflé Matte Cream Lipstick in Inspire – $26 CAD

Probably my favourite of the bunch. I can’t get enough of this red. I will find any excuse to wear it! The formula is amazing. It’s so lightweight for a lipstick. It’s matte but it’s not drying, and I find that to be my biggest problem with any matte lip product. It’s staying power is pretty good. Oily/greasy foods are obviously not the best idea, but I’ve had glasses of water and it has looked the same afterwards! I don’t know if I’m getting ahead of myself here, but I think would repurchase this colour. I will most definitely look into getting more colours because I just really love this product. If you can only allow yourself to get ONE thing from this makeup line, I think this has to be it.

Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase. I do not regret buying any of these products (which is surprising). I think Selena Gomez did a fabulous job for being another celebrity diving into an industry she’s not especially known for. I think the price points of each of her products are rather reasonable. I think it’s at a great mid-point between drugstore and high end. I’m in love with the packaging. I’m really quite impressed and think it’s great quality for what you’re paying for. It’s so modern, classy, and chic! I do think the showstopper for me is the Lip Soufflé Matte Cream Lipstick though. I am not talking crap, guys. I am thoroughly impressed with this thing. And for $26? Sign me up.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading my little opinion on Selena Gomez’s new makeup line. I 100% support Rare Beauty. OH! – and speaking of support, another thing you should know is that they support mental health! The Rare Impact Fund wants to raise $100 million over the next ten years so that they can help with mental health services in underserved communities. I have family members that suffer from mental health issues so this is important to me, and I highly respect Selena for wanting to focus on this issue and wanting to help others feel less lonely. If this is something near and dear to your heart as well, go to to read more!

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I know I’m not an expert and my opinion doesn’t matter, but I thought I’d share it with you anyway lol.

Have a great weekend!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

A Home For My Daily Essentials

Hi hi! I just wanted to jump on here quick to share with you a new post! I’m super excited about it! Today I’m going to share with you this cute little item that Mejuri so kindly sent to me. They emailed me to collaborate and I’M OBSESSED with their brand (currently have 3 of their pieces in my shopping cart lol), so obviously I said yes.

The “Daily Case” is a pocket-sized case that is equipped to carry all of my Mejuri daily essentials. I feel absolutely naked if I’m not at least wearing my Mejuri rings and having this case with me helps prevent that. There are three colours that you can choose from: Bordeaux (a sexy red shade), black, and beige. I wanted the beige but the only colour that wasn’t sold out at the time was black lol. But looking back at it now, it was a blessing in disguise because I know that I’d get the beige beyond dirty. One of my favourite things about this case is that it’s lined with an anti-tarnish microsuede that will help to maintain my daily rotation of Mejuri pieces in perfect condition!

Although they gifted me this case, and I have partnered with them a few times now, I still really love and support the brand. Like I said, there are at least two pairs of earrings and a ring in my Mejuri shopping cart right now lol. I have never been disappointed by them and I plan on using this case to take with me everywhere. Whether it’s to see my family for the weekend, or an overnight stay at my boyfriend’s, or even just to have in my purse at work! I will definitely be using this case and if you’re in the market for something like this for even your non-Mejuri jewelry, I highly recommend it!

The Mejuri Daily Case is $65 CAD and they give you a 2 Year Warranty. I am not being paid to write this blog post. I really just love it so much (I think it’s the organized freak in me ha-ha)! Pick one up and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I hope you’re all having a lovely start to your week, and I hope you’re all safe and well!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

Set For Fall (but not really)

I want to say that I’m ready for fall, but I’m absolutely not. With the way the weather is going, I feel like I’m really having no choice in the matter. I think I have to be ready for it whether I like it or not lol. It’s just getting so chilly! Like it’s 100% sweater weather. I just ordered some sweatpants that I’m going to try to make fashion. I’ve also tried looking into a proper winter coat. Why? Because at this rate, I think our winter is going to be ROUGH. I think I might need to invest in a full-on snowsuit!

However, the weather is still in the positives and we haven’t completely lost the sun yet. Daylight savings time isn’t until October, right? I think we still have a bit of time! I know I’m pretty much freaking out right now, but I do not do well in the winter. Winter depression is a real thing, folks. You’d think after 27 years of living in Canada I’d be well-adjusted by now, but I’m not. #summergirlforever

The real reason I’m writing today is to share with you guys another outfit post! These photos were taken a few weeks ago (back when things were hot and happier lol) and I am so upset that I won’t have more opportunities to wear this *set* this year! This is a cute little set from Free People. It’s called the “Oasis” set. It was returned to our FP location and I just had to snatch it up. I love it sooo much. They’re great separate as well. I’ve worn the shorts with a graphic t-shirt and the top with a pair of jeans. It was honestly one of the best purchases I made this summer because I got so much use out of it! It’s also in fabulous quality so I’m definitely wearing it again next year!

One of the best things about sets is that they’re like an entire outfit already put together for you. Like a dress, I only need to add some accessories and I’m ready to go! For this look, I added my Nunoo that I named Pearl (because she looks like a clam), and a cute pearl headband that I purchased last year from Amazon. And to balance out that fancy purse and pearl headband, I just wore my Birkenstock sandals to look more casual. Such a cute go-to outfit when you don’t have time to think! I highly recommend picking up a matching set.

Like I basically said earlier, I’m really going to miss summer and these golden hours. I really hope that winter isn’t as terrible as I’m afraid it’s going to be. I’m still a little worried about how I’m going to manage to get content in the winter time, but I have a ring light in my Amazon cart just waiting for me to bite the bullet! I think my best bet is to get some good lighting and take photos in my apartment. Again, if you have any suggestions or tips on how you take photos when it’s freezing outside, let me know in the comment section below!

I hope you all have the best weekend! I’m hosting my sister’s baby shower tomorrow, so wish me luck ha-ha!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

Meet Me At Sunset Park

I don’t know where Sunset Park is. If you know where it is, I’d love to know! What I do know is that this is the name of my new favourite cardigan! It’s the “Sunset Park Cardigan” from Free People. I am absolutely obsessed with the fit and the colours. I feel like this cardigan will remind me of all the beautiful sunsets I witnessed during the summer because whether I like it or not, it’s getting chillier here in Toronto and it’s getting chilly FAST *sadface*. The fit of this cardigan is amazing because I feel like I’m wearing a stylish blanket. It’s super oversized but I love that. When you’re tiny like me, you learn to embrace that everything is going to be oversized lol.

For the rest of my outfit, I think I’m wearing mostly TOPSHOP. If you’ve read my blog posts before, you know that me and their Petite section have a wonderful relationship. The top is this black crop top that I got a few years ago now. It has wide straps with these fab buckles that I think make the top a lot less boring (you can’t see them because they’re underneath the cardigan but trust me, they’re there lol). The pants are part of my quarantine pants collection. By that, I mean these pants are forgiving and do not make me feel like I’ve gained the weight that I’ve so unfortunately gained. WE LOVE a good drawstring waist, ladies!

The shoes I wore are my trusty checkered Vans slip-ons. I think I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: I WILL ALWAYS AND FOREVER HAVE A PAIR OF THESE SHOES. I think they’re cool, stylish, and most of all, COMFORTABLE. They’re so easy to put on and I’m pretty sure I climbed a mountain in the Philippines in them lol. They’ve been there for me through it all, and they’ve also held up pretty well! The accessories I’m wearing are minimal (for me lol). I just wore my Ariana Grande inspired initial necklace. I think she wore a very similar necklace in one of her music videos and I went on a hunt for it. Last but not least, I’m wearing my favourite Nunoo bag: Frankie. We love her. I’ve had some issue where the dye of some of my clothing is rubbing off on her and thankfully I learned that a pencil eraser can get it out! Can you believe that? I googled how to get a stain out of a suede bag, that came up, and it works! If you didn’t know this, you’re welcome ;))

Cardigan – FREE PEOPLE

Pants – TOPSHOP Petite

Shoes – VANS

Purse – NUNOO

Necklace – ETSY

As it starts to get chillier, I’m starting to worry about how I’m going to be able to take these outfit photos during the Winter. Do you guys have any tips or suggestions? Maybe I need to get a light box for photos in my apartment? Rent a studio space? How much is it to even rent a studio space? If you guys know any of the answers, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know in the comment section below!

Hope you’re all doing well, and have a fabulous weekend!

Book Review: Next Year For Sure by Zoey Leigh Peterson

Okay, I haven’t done one of these in a while so you’ll have to bear with me! I just finished this book that was chosen for one of my book clubs for the month of August and I gotta say, I think it was pretty good! It was nothing like anything I’ve ever read before so I found myself not wanting to put it down until the very end. I love books that make me feel this way, don’t you?!

The book (like it says in the title lol) is called “Next Year For Sure” by Zoey Leigh Peterson. I honestly have no idea how to explain it without making it sound weird. It’s about Chris and Kathryn. They’re a couple that has been together for 9 years. They know everything about the other and are not only lovers but the absolute best of friends. Chris knows everything there is to know about Kathryn. He’s always looking out for her and always knows what to do to make her feel better. Honestly, at first I was a little jealous of Kathryn. Where did she find this guy? How’d she get him to be so caring and considerate?!

Then Chris meets Emily. Emily is unlike anyone he has ever met. He’s for some reason drawn to her and can’t stop thinking about her. He’s basically developed a crush. The relationship he has with Kathryn is so unique that she just wants to see him happy, and if pursuing Emily will do that, she will encourage it. Is that crazy or what?! I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I would feel comfortable letting my boyfriend take another girl out on a date. But apparently it’s completely okay in Kathryn and Chris’ relationship. I mean, Kathryn does end up regretting it and it does start to make her crazy. Two girlfriends? Like c’mon, what are we doing here lol? However, in the end, they somehow figure out how to create this functional dynamic between everyone.

It’s basically the most interesting read ever lol. Is this what dating it like now? Have I gotten old? I know that I have given a pretty detailed gist of it all, but I encourage you to read it! There are characters in here that are much like myself and think that there is no way that this kind of a dynamic can end on a positive note. In a way it doesn’t, but I want you to read it so I’m not going to say anything more!

Overall, I think I would give this book a 4/5 stars. I don’t want to encourage men to have multiple girlfriends but it was interesting to read about! I mean, I guess that’s the nosey person in me trying to know all the drama and how this all turns out. But let me tell ya, there is no lack of drama in this novel.

I hope I’ve left you with enough information to pick this book up yourself! My next read is: “Midnight Sun” by Stephanie Meyer (I had to lol)!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

Bandana Girl Summer

I don’t even know where to begin to update you guys! First, I was out of internet for about a week because something happened and we had made an appointment to get it fixed, but then they never showed up. We waited about 5 days for internet and when they never showed up, we decided to change internet providers lol. Then it took another few days to get them to come and install all their internet stuff, so it was quite a process and I couldn’t really post anything unless I wanted to use my cellular data! I did post some Instagram stories but for the most part, I couldn’t really do anything. I did get a lot of crocheting done though! I’m currently in the country/county to help my sister with a few things. She’s having a baby shower soon (that I’ve been designated to organize!) so I’m up here for a couple of days to figure that out. It’s nice to be out here in the middle of nowhere. I’ve got some down time to catch up on my blog and Instagram. I might read in her big back yard (I was told there’s a hammock somewhere). My sister also has two dogs and they’re the cutest and most affectionate little boys ever. I don’t know if I’ve said this in a previous blog post before but I REALLY WANT A DOG. I think I would be such a good dog mum! I hope to maybe be in the right place to get a dog within the next couple of years? My fingers are crossed. I would honestly adopt any dog. I just want to make sure that I’ll be able to give it the best life!

Anyways, today I have another outfit post! These photos were taken a little while ago (like, pre-internet fiasco) but I want to share them anyway! I love sharing my outfits. I feel like my blog is not only my blog but also a diary of all of my past outfits that I can look back on and say, “OMG. What was I thinking?!” Will this outfit be one of them? Probably! Who remembers in the early 2000s when bandanas were EVERYWHERE? I had so many headbands that had a piece of fabric attached to them to make them look like a full-on bandana. It was such a lazy way to wear the trend but it was also like, a genius idea. (I’d actually kill to still have one today tbh.)

Seeing that this trend was having a comeback made me so excited! It’s nostalgic for me and I was beyond happy that Free People carried some really cute ones! I work at Free People (most of you probably already know this) and was able to get a discount on them! I got this cream one with blue flowers that I’m wearing in these photos. And I also got this black one with some white/pink-y flowers? I can’t remember the black one exactly but I’m equally obsessed with the both of them. I find that this cream one is more summer-y and easy to wear right now. I’ll probably be wearing the black one more towards the fall season.

For the rest of the outfit, I wore one of the only pairs of jeans that fit me right now. I know I’ve shared with you that I’ve put on some quarantine pounds and I’m working to fit back into all of my old jeans, but for now this is it. They’re from TOPSHOP and I’m not sure if they still carry this style of jeans but they’re their “Crop” jean, and I love the wide leg/baggy-ness of them! The ruffled top that I’m wearing is kind of crocheted and very on trend for this season. I got it from a thrift store for $7! I love it! The sweater/jacket is called the Ruby jacket from Free People. It’s so easy to throw on on top of everything. It’s one of my go-tos. The colour of it is my favourite. It’s like a green/grey colour and surprisingly compliments almost everything in my wardrobe. For shoes, I wore my trusty Birkenstocks. I think these are my most worn shoe of the summer. They’re so comfortable and go with absolutely everything. I can also work a full shift in them and not have my feet hurt, so they’re perfect! The bag I’m wearing is a new favourite from my favourite handbag brand: Nunoo. This is the “Saki” style. I think I’ve talked about it before but if I haven’t, you’re going to hear more about her in my August Favourites video + blog post! Stay tuned for that!

Before I sign off, I want to apologize for my absence. I think I’m probably more upset than you guys that I haven’t been able to be consistent. But life happens and at least I am able to get back on track now! I have so many videos that I’ve recorded that just need to be edited. I’m also a little backed up in outfit photos (which is never a bad thing!) so I have tons to share with you guys! I’ve also lost a lot of hours at work so I’m going to be home a lot more often (again). It’s nice but I also need money, you know? Like I said, life happens. You just have to make the best of it!

Hope you’re all doing well and making the best of it, too!

Until next time,

I know everything about the NY Yankees.

Just kidding! I know absolutely nothing. I just know that they play baseball (?)… is that even enough? What kind of justification do you need in order to wear their team’s logo on a baseball cap? I got this hat for Christmas from my brother years ago, and I just love the look of it! It’s perfect to wear on those days where I can’t be bothered to do anything with my hair. I also love New York. I’ve only been to the city once but I have been saying that I want to go back for years.

Now I’ll tell ya a sport I do care about (sorry baseball fans), and that’s basketball! Do any of you watch basketball? My boyfriend is obsessed and it’s rubbing off on me. I obviously am a huge Raptors fan (I named one of my plants Kyle lol). But I love the Trail Blazers and the Jazz as well. I have crushes on a few players that I won’t get into because it’s a bit embarrassing but overall, basketball is great! I really enjoy watching it. Whenever my boyfriend is over, basketball tends to be the only thing we watch. I mean, it does get annoying sometimes when none of my teams are playing and I’m really in the mood for a chick-flick, but basketball can be really entertaining most of the time. Fun fact: I played in a basketball league in high school. It was called the “Little NBA” and I was a “Buck” lol.

Anyways, the reason I wore this baseball cap (is it a hat or a cap?) is because I wanted a casual outfit (also/full disclosure: I didn’t have time to fully dry my hair). We were on our way to catch the train to surprise my best friend, Emily, for her birthday! Our plan was to surprise her at Denny’s. She loves Denny’s and our friend group seems to go to Denny’s together a lot so it seemed like the perfect spot. Now I know Denny’s isn’t the fanciest of restaurants so, like I said, I wanted to keep it “casual”. I wore this knitted sweater vest that I picked up recently from work (Free People). I’ve been loving a lot of our stuff lately, or maybe I just missed being away from the store for 5 months ha-ha. I added a midi skirt that I got a few years ago from TOPSHOP. It’s made of some other kind of sweater material but it’s stretchy and super comfy (it gives me a lot of belly room lol). I wore my Nunoo bag that I’ve named Frankie because I love her (full post on her coming soon!!!). And for shoes, I wore my New Balance sneakers that my boyfriend got me for Christmas. I forgot that I had them! I think they really tied the whole comfy-and-casual-but-still-cute look.

Man, it’s mid-August already. I can’t believe that summer is almost over. I know that I’ve probably said something like this in a previous post. But despite everything going on in the world, I really appreciated the time to slow down and enjoy being outside this year. It’s definitely not the way I would have liked it to happen (I would have liked to see my friends and family), but I also treasured the time to go to a park and read because before, when I worked full-time, I would be too tired or would have plans to do something else! I’m just saying that despite the situation, there are a ton of things I am still grateful for.

I hope you’re all enjoying what we have left of summer here in Toronto. Maybe you live somewhere where it’s always hot and sunny and therefore, I’m super jealous ha-ha! I just hope you’re all happy and safe!

Have a great rest of your week!

Monthly Favourites: July 2020

Welcome back, everybody! Another month has gone by and I have another bunch of goodies to share with you. I’ve got a great mix (I feel like I say this every time lol) and therefore I’m not going to babble for any longer. Here they are!

Ole Henrikson’s “3 Little Wonders” – I ordered the “3 Little Wonders” by Ole Henrikson when Sephora was having a Canada Day sale and boy, they’re WONDERful. Like the YTP Dream Mask, the texture of my skin is just unbelievably smoother. But my skin also looks really fresh and I’ve noticed that my pores are much smaller as well. I’ve been breaking out from wearing a mask at work all day, but if I didn’t have to wear one I think my skin would be in top notch condition! I really love these products and I wish they weren’t so expensive. A strong part of me thinks repurchasing them is definitely worth it though.

Youth to the People’s “Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask” – I’ve recorded a review on all the Youth to the People products that I’ve tried so I don’t want to say too much about this product. All I can say that is that it changed my life, and I’m obsessed with it. It’s honestly done so many great things for my skin. I feel like it’s helped with the texture and the hydration it provides is UNREAL. I highly recommend it! It’s just a thick mask/moisturizer that you can put on and leave overnight!

Antiquing – My sister and her husband moved back into the country and I visited them/helped them get organized a couple times in July. We grew up in the country and I haven’t really returned much since living in the city. I usually only go back for holidays and birthdays. Now that my sister lives there, I really get a taste of what life was like when I was younger. There isn’t anything to really do. It takes forever to get anywhere. I’m reminded that I need a license and a car lol. But what I do love about the country is their selection of antiques. My sister has the cutest antique store close to her new house and I plan on visiting it whenever I’m there now! I got the cutest home decor pieces, and now I’m just hooked on finding little treasures for my future home! I have no idea when I’ll be getting a home if it’s in the city though. Maybe if I win the lottery or marry rich lol? Either way, I’ve been loving antiques and if you wanna see what I picked up, watch the “July Faves” video I have on YouTube (link above)!

Long walks – For the entire month of July I went on walks in the morning for about an hour and a half. I would just put on some of my favourite shorts from Free People’s Movement line and walk at a steady pace. I realized a bit late that sitting around and not having any form of exercise in my daily routine would cause me to gain weight. I’m about 10 pounds heavier than I was before I was furloughed because of COVID-19. It’s the heaviest I’ve ever been and I’ve been super motivated to lose the weight and go back to the way my body was before. Unfortunately, gaining weight is much easier than losing it! But I bet you didn’t need me to tell you that lol. These walks have been really good for me. I like the routine in the morning. I think it’s a great start to my day and really sets me on the right track to having a healthy and positive day. Since I’ve been walking for over a month now, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my body and walking has no longer been a challenge for me. Yes, believe it or not, walking gave me a shortness of breath! But I’ve incorporated some jogging now and I am so proud of myself! I’ve also been changing my diet. I didn’t really think much about creating a healthier lifestyle before, but now I realize what all the hype is all about! I’ve honestly never felt healthier or happier.

Claw clips – I NEED A HAIRCUT. I know that hair salons are open now. The salon that I go to is open but I just can’t muster up the courage to go yet. Am I being weird? Since things have opened back up, I have been avoiding taking Toronto’s transit. I’m just not comfortable getting on a bus or the subway right now. Uber’s expensive. It’s a struggle to get to where my hair salon is located so I’ve just been putting it off! My hair is super long and I’ve run of ways to deal with it. My favourite way to deal with my hair is with a claw clip that I purchased off Amazon. No fuss, no muss! (What’s a muss?) It’s super easy and it keeps my a hair tamed and out of my way.

They Said This Would Be Fun by Eternity Martis – I’ve been a little disappointed with my reading habits lately or more so the lack there of. I just haven’t been able to sit down and thoroughly enjoy a book after reading this one! It’s nonfiction and based on Eternity’s university experience as one of few black women at a mostly white university in London, Ontario. This book was really eye-opening and I’m super grateful that it was picked for one of my book clubs. Believe it or not, racism is present in Canada and it’s just as bad as you think it is in the United States. Just because it’s not on the news doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I highly recommend you read this book because you can definitely learn something from Eternity’s story.

Nunoo bag (AKA Frankie) – My angel of a boyfriend spoiled me with this Nunoo bag for my birthday. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this bag a ton already but I had to make her a favourite even if it might be obvious. It’s the “Patchwork Donna” bag from Nunoo. I think of Frankenstein whenever I see patches so I’ve renamed my bag “Frankie” lol. I absolutely love her. I love the shades of pink, peach, and purple. It surprisingly compliments all of my outfits and I just can’t stop wearing her. Overall, I love any Nunoo bag but the fact that my boyfriend got me this unique/beautiful one says he really gets me. I’m going to treasure this bag forever!

That’s everything for last month’s favourites! I’m already looking forward to sharing the things I’m loving in August. Trying to be healthier and better to my body has really introduced me to a ton of new and exciting things and I can’t wait to share them!

I hope you are all safe, healthy, and well!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤
