Latest Crochet Creation!

Hey guys! Or should I say, “Hey there, strangers!” I feel like it’s been such a long time since I’ve posted on here but it’s only been 10 days! A lot has been going on at my end and I don’t even know where to begin.

First, I think I’ve mentioned that we’re in lockdown here in Toronto but there’s been talk about further restrictions. I’ve been a little stressed and battling myself on whether or not I should go home and see my family for Christmas. Depending on what’s announced, I may just stay home to be safe. I don’t want to be the reason anyone gets sick.

On top of that, I’ve also been SO BUSY crocheting! I’ve been like one of Santa’s elves and I’ve been working on multiple projects. Some are Christmas gifts, and some are orders! I have 3 orders that I’m currently working on and trying to get done as fast as I can. I’m pretty bad (bad as in I do this all the time) at biting off more than I can chew. It’s tough for me to say no, and as much as I hate to admit it, I’m a bit of a people pleaser. I just don’t want to disappoint anybody! I want everyone to be happy, you know? Anyways, I’ve been super busy and stressed out with that.

And while all of this is going on, I still have a few days a week where I’m going to work and packaging online orders. So yeah, I’ve been pretty busy and I feel bad that I haven’t been able to read, edit videos, write blog posts, or even post on Instagram as much!

It’s been a lot to juggle but I’m getting through it and I’m here today, and that’s all that matters! I mean, when I finish projects like the one I’m about to share, it’s super rewarding and makes it all worth it.

Here’s my latest crochet creation! I can’t take full credit for this design. I was inspired to recreate a cropped knit sweater by this brand that’s currently getting a lot of attention: Hope Macaulay. You can check out her stuff here: She makes these colossal knits that are absolutely stunning, but also quite expensive. This one that I was smitten with, and ended up recreating, is priced at around $400 CAD. I don’t know about you but this year, I don’t really have that kind of money laying around to spend on one sweater lol. The next best thing for me was to try to crochet it. And with what I’ve learned this year from the other projects that I’ve completed, I was able to recreate it by simply looking at this picture!

Those were my inspiration photos from their website, and here’s what I made!

You can definitely tell that I crocheted it instead of knitting it because the stitches are really different. I used a brighter pink and a different texture of yarn. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I think it’s my best creation yet! I’m proud that I could make it based off a photo. I didn’t follow a pattern, a video, or anything! I was a little worried about making the puffy sleeves but they were easier than I expected. I’ll be honest, guys: I’m still just so shocked that I made this myself! I really hope this inspires some of you to try to recreate anything that you’ve had your eye on. How to crochet is very easy to learn. I’m teaching my roommate and she’s almost done her first sweater! Not only will you save money, but it’ll be so special because you made it yourself and no one else will have anything like it.

But enough about me! How are you guys doing? Christmas is in less than 5 days. Are you looking forward to it? Dreading it? Have you been busy too? Let’s talk about it in the comment section below!

I hope you’re all happy, safe, and well!

Until next time,

(If I’m not back before Christmas, I hope you have the best Christmas possible!)

Parisian Wannabe 4ever

Hey everyone! We all know that I want to go to Paris, I’m studying French, and I watched Emily in Paris about five times (and counting). Just when you thought I couldn’t possibly take this obsession any further, I’ve somehow managed to lol.

I got this really colourful yarn and it spoke to me. It said, “Please make me into a beret!” So I did exactly that. And she’s not only a colourful beret, but a beret with a POM-POM! Yes, I learned how to make pom-poms as well. However, I think pom-poms are more difficult than the actual crochet part. I’m not even joking! It took so many tries to get a nice round and full-looking pompom. The first five were kind of scraggly (to say the least).

Now this yarn was thicker than what I’m used to. I think I might have had a better result if I used a bigger crochet needle, but it still turned out really well for my first ever beret. I think I’m going to make a couple more before I start offering to make them for anybody. I didn’t get enough elasticity or stretch in this one as I would have liked. I love the colours though. This beret, especially with the pom-pom, kind of reminds me of a hat someone would wear at a golf course, and I kinda love that.

For these photos, I just wanted to be playful and share with you the beret more than anything. I threw on these black denim overalls that I have worn in a previous post. They are super comfy and from Free People. I’ve actually been wearing them so much because they’re easy to wear and I can move around in them without feeling restricted in any way. Overalls are honestly the best. Underneath, I actually wore the same top that I wore in my last outfit post! Like I said then, this top is so versatile. It’s also pretty trendy right now because I’m seeing huge collars literally everywhere.

As you can see in these mirror photos, I am not wearing shoes lol. That’s because realistically, I’m not going anywhere! I’m in lockdown here in Toronto. I’m not really working. Typically, I’m home, filthy, in bed, and crocheting or reading my life away. It sounds awful but it’s the new normal. On this day, I obviously showered but I couldn’t be bothering to add shoes to the outfit. Is it lazy? Or maybe I just wanted you guys to see these cute socks I got at work! We have so many fun ones at Free People. It’s sounds pricey, but you can get 3 pairs of socks for $40 CAD. One pair is $16. I know, they’re expensive. But if you try them, they’re soft, cozy, and great quality!

JEWELRY – Mejuri

HAT – made by yours truly!

Holy moly, everything is from Free People, eh? How original. Thinking about starting another sweater in my near future. ALSO, I think I’m about to just dive in on this whole business idea. I’ve done a poll on Instagram, the followers say it’s what they want. But if you think I’m making a big mistake, please speak now or forever hold your peace!

Hope you’re all safe and well! Thank you so much for paying attention to my lunacy, it’s much appreciated.

What’s In My Makeup Bag?

Hi! I just wanted to hop on and share with those that follow me on here that I just uploaded a new YouTube video! In this video, I share the contents of my makeup bag. If you’re interested or at all curious, all you have to do is click the link here:

It was a requested video and I thought it was a great idea, especially if you’re into “What’s In My Bag?” videos like I am. Let’s be honest, we all get a little nosey from time to time, right? I’m not saying the contents of my makeup bag are going to tell you my deepest darkest secrets or anything, but some people always ask me what foundation I use, etc. So this video answers most of those questions!

Anyways, if you decide to click, I really hope you enjoy watching. It’s 20min long, so maybe grab a tea or a hot chocolate before you press play?

Thanks for your time!

Hope you’re all safe and well,

Granny’s Fancy Pants

Okay, but how cool are these pants?! These, my friends, were purchased straight out of the shipment box at Free People. I just knew I had to have these unique pants in my life. I think by now you guys know that I *kind of* have a shopping problem. But it’s hard not to buy anything when you’re surrounded by such cute clothes all day long!

These are Free People’s “Sun In The West” pants. They’re supposed to be a cropped pair of pants but you know, I’m tiny and therefore everything touches the floor on me. Thankfully, I got some platform boots this season so it’s not something that can’t be fixed lol. To pair with these pants, I wore this Victorian-inspired (I don’t even know if this is the right word for it?) top with lots of ruffles. I’m actually in love with it so much and I have worn it with so many things lately (overalls, jeans, etc.). This top is also from Free People and if you would like to check it out, it’s called the “Walk In The Park” top. Have you been seeing a lot of dramatic collars like this, or is it just me? I’m seeing them all over my Instagram feed and I’m loving it a lot. This top might have started a new obsession!

For accessories, I added this thrifted bag from Value Village. I really felt like it fit the whole “grandma vibe” I had going on lol. Like I said earlier, these pants require a bit of a boost so I made sure to wear my favourite platform boots by Vagabond that I got this year from Little Burgundy. Now that I look at these photos more, this really is a grandma vibe! The pants kind of look like a grandmother’s couch, no? But in a cool way? I guess it could also be considered bohemian, but I like grandma better.

The final touches are my Mejuri jewels that I’ve talked about time and time again. You guys know how much I love my Mejuri jewelry. I wore my chunky hoops (again lol), and that pretty much complete’s this outfit!

TOP – Free People

PANTS – Free People

BOOTS – Vagabond from Little Burgundy

BAG – Value Village

I know I’ve made a lot of grandmother references in this post but I’m going to be honest and say that I have felt like I’ve aged a lot this year. A lot has happened in the world in 2020 and it has opened my eyes and helped me realize what’s most important. I’ve also taken up crocheting and started knitting again, so maybe I am becoming a grandma at the age of 27? I’m definitely not complaining though. I’m happy with the way I am now. I’ve become a homebody and I don’t need to go out anymore. I have so many fun hobbies now and I’ve kept those I love most real close. It’s all I need.

I hope that you guys can make the most out of this holiday season. How have you been preparing for Christmas? I want to make cookies this week. I’m almost finished our tree. I just have to create a few more ornaments. Would you like me to share it? Have you guys finished your Christmas shopping? This year, my family is minimizing the amount of gifts that we exchange and have chosen to do a Secret Santa. The pandemic and two lockdowns haven’t been easy on our wallets as well, so this felt like a great idea all around. Please let me know what you’re doing for Christmas or in preparation for Christmas in the comment section below! I’d love to read it!

Hope you’re all safe and well,

– Tiny ❤

Book Review: The Best We Could Do by Thi Bui

Where do I begin, where do I begin… Well, this book was the November pick for Jenn Im’s book club: @curlupclub! I’ve always admired Jenn’s love for reading and her recommendations are always great. This book was no exception.

“The Best We Could Do” by Thi Bui was a beautiful memoir. I’ve never been in a book club where one of the picks was a graphic novel. I haven’t read graphic novels since high school! This book rekindled my love with it’s beautiful images and well-told story. I think that it takes great storytelling to be able to use images and fewer words, and still have a great impact on the reader.

The book is a memoir, like I said, it’s about Thi Bui’s life and how having a child of her own made her see her parents in a different light. With a lot of research, she retells the story of how her parents met and all the obstacles they, and her parents’ parents, overcame in order to give Thi and her siblings the life they currently have in America. They escaped the fall of South Vietnam and lost so much along their way. Miscarriages, bombings (they lived through two wars!), communism, poverty, starvation, tuberculosis and pneumonia are only some of the challenges Thi’s family had to face.

By reading Thi’s story, you realize that parenthood is endless sacrifices, unnoticed gestures, and depths of unspoken love. After reading this book, it helped me realize the sacrifices even my parents had to make for me and my siblings. Although my family didn’t go through as terrible of things as Thi’s family, this book still gives you a much needed perspective. It’s such a great story to remind you of what’s important and what needs to be cherished. Family is everything and sometimes we forget that (especially during these unprecedented times).

This book really blew me away. The images alone are worth it. The flow of the book made it a very easy read but still meaningful. I’m not a professional book reviewer, but I think this book won awards for a reason. I can only say positive things about “The Best We Could Do” by Thi Bui. If you think a graphic novel is more YA, don’t be so quick to assume! This book is great for all ages.

I actually plan on lending it to my sister that has a one month old son. I think this would definitely give her some perspective on her new role. Anyways, I hope you guys are intrigued by this novel. Please take my word for it! I don’t really review or write one of these guys unless I really think you need to read it for yourselves!

Happy reading!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

Hello, hello! I’m back with another exciting crochet project complete! I can’t believe that I’m making these things with my own two hands. Honestly, I feel like I’ve said this before, but there is no better feeling than making something yourself. It is such a rewarding feeling! I want to make everything. I want to learn how to knit projects as well. I have my eye on some things I saw online that I would like to recreate. For example, Zara has this really cute knitted bag that I want to make myself. When I look at things that are knitted or crocheted in-stores now, I think: “Omg, I could do that!” It’s so much fun! I highly recommend and encourage you to try crocheting or knitting if it’s something you’ve always wanted to try. It’s something I will never regret teaching myself. I may get serious carpel tunnel in the long run (my boyfriend and mother are concerned that I’m going to hurt my hands if I don’t take enough breaks) but still no regrets!

Here is a rainbow sweater with these tiny clouds on the front that was originally designed by this lovely lady on YouTube. Her name is Rabeyah and you can follow her video here:

I used slightly different colours for my sweater and different yarn. I obviously had different measurements as well, but this was the best guideline for my first ever pullover sweater. I actually wore it to work the day after I made it, and a customer has asked me to make her one! I can’t believe it! I’m in the process in getting her colours and measurements but I’m still shocked that someone wants me to make them a sweater, and is willing to pay me for it. I’m like, stunned. I’m still on the fence about creating a Etsy shop or an Instagram to sell my crochet pieces. I feel like there’s still lots that I could learn, but what do you guys think? I’m really struggling here and if you’re an entrepreneur or have your own small business, what do you think I should do?

For this outfit, I thought about wearing jeans, then my boyfriend suggested these pants and I decided I liked them much more lol. These pants are from TOPSHOP Petite. I haven’t talked about their Petite section in a while but I really love everything in that section of theirs. Everything just hits the right spots. I don’t need to hem anything and that’s a rarity for me. It’s perfect! For shoes, I wore my current favourite sneakers which are these Golas that I purchased from Free People. What I love most about them is that not only are they pink but they’re so comfortable! I don’t know about you but I’ve never heard of Gola before. I think they were a great find and if you’re interested, you should definitely pick a pair up!

The last few bits of this outfit are the same as my last outfit post. This gorgeous new bag from Nunoo that I can’t get enough of. It’s rare for me to fit a full-on book in one of my bags (I usually carry a book in my hand) but this bag fits one! I’ve been toting around this book about chess because of The Queen’s Gambit ha-ha. Last but not least, I added my chunky hoops from Mejuri! If you don’t follow me on Instagram, I partnered with them for their Black Friday Sale. It’s their biggest sale of the year and it’s going on now until Monday at midnight. You NEED to take advantage of this. If you’ve been wanting some every day staples, check out Mejuri!

Their sale is: Buy 1, get 10% off. Buy 2, get 15% off. And if you buy 3 or more, you get 20% off!!!

I obviously ordered 3 pieces already lol. But THIS.IS.THE.TIME. to get those pieces you’ve been drooling over or for gifts for those people in your life that you don’t know what to get. Mejuri has never disappointed me and they’re like the only brand of jewelry that I wear now.

SWEATER – made it myself!

SNEAKERS – Gola at Free People

BAG – Nunoo

That’s another outfit post from me! I hope you enjoyed it. What should I crochet next?! I’m currently crocheting some ornaments for my Christmas tree. I’ve also thought about crocheting a beret within the next few days. I probably should get to work or at least order the yarn for my first ever sweater order (can’t believe I’m saying this). But yeah, if you have any cool ideas that you’d like to see me attempt, comment in the section below!

Thanks for reading! Hope you’re all safe and well.

Cozy Fall Picnic

Since we had our first snow fall a couple of days ago, these photos and this picnic date feels like it was forever ago. I definitely wouldn’t consider going on any kind of picnic outside right now lol. But have you ever been on a picnic in the fall? With a growing pandemic and very few options for dates these days, my boyfriend and I went on a picnic. It was comfortable weather for this sweatsuit but if it got any colder, I would have needed a jacket. We ordered some sandwiches, a coffee for him, and a matcha latte for me, and went to the park in my neighbourhood.

There were so many leaves, like leaves EVERYWHERE. It was actually kind of pretty with the sun shining. Anyways, my first fall picnic was a success and I would do it again. I highly recommend it! Just grab a blanket, some hot beverages, some snacks, and you’re good to go! It’s really cozy, and since it can get a little chilly, you have the perfect excuse to cuddle (I’m big on cuddling).

Now the main reason I’m writing this post is to share with you one of the best sweatsuits I have in my wardrobe right now. I picked up this set from Oak and Fort. I don’t own much from Oak and Fort but my boss bought this sweatsuit in a different colour and when I saw it, I needed to have it. I love this cream colour. It’s a little risky because I feel like I could get it dirty pretty easily, but I’ve been pretty lucky with it so far! I love that the sweater is a half zip. I love that it’s cropped. I just think this sweatsuit fits so well considering how petite I am!

The thing I love most of all about sweatsuits is that they’re like a dress or a jumpsuit, or any other matching set where the only thing you need to worry about is accessorizing. You guys know I love my accessories. For this outfit, I kept it minimal. Since it was sunny, I wore these cat-eye sunglasses from Free People. I wore my infamous Mejuri chunky hoops and my favourite boots by Vagabond. And the main and most important accessory: my early Christmas gift to myself, another Nunoo. This is the Bobby bag from Nunoo. I’m totally obsessed! I love the shape because it holds everything I want and more. I also love the colour because I think it’s such a great every day shade. You guys know I’m nuts. We’ve discussed this in my last blog post. But I feel like it’s time to record an updated “What In My Bag” video? Do you agree? Let me know in the comment section below!

Okay, that’s it for today! A little update is that I am officially in lockdown in Toronto. It started on Monday, which means much more time for content! The last lockdown was new and overwhelming, but I think I can handle it the second time around. Some tips that I have learned are that I need fresh air, I need routine, and I have to make sure I contact someone when I’m feeling lonely. I also have to keep reminding myself that it’s okay to spend a day doing nothing. Do any of you have this problem? I get so down on myself if I spend a day at home and haven’t accomplished a single thing. It feels like such a waste! I’ve kind of always been hard on myself in this sense, but I’m trying my best to work on it. It definitely can get messy though, and that’s okay.

I hope you’re all safe and well,

– Tiny ❤

Hey everyone! I’m back with another outfit post. As we get further and further into November, I’m starting to worry about it getting too cold to take pictures outside. WINTER IS COMING. Snow will be here soon! What will I do? How will I get my content for outfit posts?! Well the better question is: How will I get content for outfit posts without getting sick lol? I apologize in advance, but it might have to be mirror pics.

Today I have an outfit taken outside on a cloudy day. It wasn’t freezing but it wasn’t exactly warm either. I had to take the opportunity to wear this dress without tights. Have you ever had a long t-shirt dress, wore tights underneath, and had it cling EVERYWHERE? That’s what I was trying to avoid. I think that if I’m ever going to wear this dress in the winter, I’m wearing jeans.

Anyways, for this outfit I wore a cute t-shirt maxi dress with a slit on the side. It’s a Rolling Stones graphic t-shirt maxi dress from Free People. If you’d like to view it on their website (because it comes in so many other colours!), I’ll link it here:

I love this dress. It’s so comfy, and I can eat whatever I want in it and still look slim lol. I think it’ll be a great layering piece in the winter time (like over a turtleneck and jeans). For this look though, I wore it by itself with this sparkly cropped denim jacket that I got from TOPSHOP a couple of years ago. I think I look so “rock ‘n’ roll”, especially with my chunky new Dr. Marten boots as well. These boots were returned to our Free People location in MY shoe size (a women’s size 5). If you’re new here, you don’t know this but I have the TOUGHEST time finding cool shoes in my size. So I bought them. This puts me at two pairs of Dr. Marten boots in my wardrobe now! I went from being a sad Dr. Marten-less girl for many years, to now having TWO PAIRS in like, 3 months. Isn’t life funny lol? I guess patience is key or good things really do come to those who wait.

The one problem, and don’t make fun of me, was picking the colour of socks to wear. But I think these yellow ones went well with the stitching on the boots and were a great contrast to the red on the dress! What do you think? Do you guys pay attention to every detail of an outfit or am I completely nuts? I mean, I am nuts. But does this make me even worse lol?

Now have I forgotten anything? I think the last few bits to this outfit are the accessories. I wore my Nunoo Lin bag because I think it complimented the whole “rock ‘n’ roll” and edgy vibe. I wore my chain necklaces from that Korean boutique on Queen Street West that I talk about ALL THE TIME: Durumi (@thedurumi). The earrings are those hoops I can’t seem to take off from Mejuri… and I think that’s it!

DRESS – Free People

BOOTS – Dr. Marten at Free People

BAG – Nunoo

There you have it, probably one of the last few outfit posts without snow or a huge and heavy winter coat. Sometimes it’s difficult living in Canada, but I think things could definitely be worse. The sooner winter is here, the sooner spring will get here! At least that’s how I look at it lol.

I hope you’re all healthy, safe, and doing well!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

Tiny Sweater Vest

Here it is! The second piece that I crocheted is a sweater vest. I think that because my first ever project was something as big and as time-consuming as a full-on cardigan, I can basically make anything as long as there’s a pattern or a YouTube video to follow! The cardigan gave me a lot of experience to help me tackle future projects but I still learned so much from making this sweater vest. For example, creating the v-neck was a bit of a hurdle that I had to overcome but I reversed some bits that I learned and it worked out! It was fun and so rewarding! I followed this YouTube video by Emma P, I’ll link her video here:

Her video was extremely helpful. I just made a few of my own twists like making the v-neck a bit deeper, and made it with a rib stitch instead of with single crochets. It was super easy! I made it in 3 days. I wore it right away. I love the huge shoulders because that’s a trend right now. I have a vest/top that has a similar silhouette from Zara with shoulder pads and the similarities make me so proud! I’m just so happy with how it turned out! I finished it at 2am and FaceTimed my boyfriend in awe. I couldn’t believe it.

Again, I just wanted the main focus to be on my new crocheted piece so I wore the same jeans that I wore in the outfit with my Harry Styles cardigan. They’re the “Balloon jeans” by Levi’s. I wore a plain white t-shirt that I’ve had for a while from TOPSHOP. I wore the same chunky gold hoops from Mejuri as well. But I wore new sneakers this time! These are Gola’s that I ordered from the Free People website: I love the mesh detailing and the pink-y/nude colour. The touch of blue at the back and the gold lettering are also super cute (I don’t know if you can really see them). I think they match my sweater vest perfectly!

T-SHIRT – Topshop

SWEATER VEST – made it myself!

JEANS – Levi’s at Free People

JEWELRY – Mejuri + Amazon

SNEAKERS – Gola’s at Free People

The more I think about it, the more I think I want to make more of these sweater vests in different colour ways! Should I really sell them? What do you guys think? Would you buy one? Do you think there’s a point or should I just keep them all for myself lol? Part of me feels like I’ll lose the fun in it but part of me is interested in a side business. I’ve kind of always wanted to start one (it’d be putting my business degree to use!) and I think it’d be an amazing feeling to see other people wearing something you’ve made yourself.

Let me know what you think in the comment section!

Thanks for reading! Hope you’re all well!

Monthly Favourites: October 2020

It’s that time again! Another month of this wild year has gone by and although it feels like the world is falling apart, I’ve managed to stay positive and find little joys to share with you. I encourage you guys to stay positive because although there are a number of terrible things going on, I still believe that there are good people out there. There are still things to be happy about and grateful for. I know it can be tough to find light in all this but you must because life is too short! It’s too short to dwell in negativity and there’s only so much that you can control.

Now enough with all the heaviness!

I have a YouTube video that I use posted of me talking about the following favourites. If you would prefer to watch that, here’s the link:

If that doesn’t interest you, you can continue reading!

Here are my favourites/the things I loved most during the month of October:

Vagabond boots from Little Burgundy – I feel like I’ve talked a lot about these boots so I’m going to keep it short and simple. They’re the “Tara” boots by Vagabond and they’re basically a platform Chelsea boot. I’ve been wearing them in most of my past outfit posts because they go with absolutely everything. I love them so much! They give me a little boost and with being 4 feet and 11 inches tall, this is well-appreciated. Vagabond is a fantastic brand when it comes to quality and comfort. They have never disappointed me. I purchased my Vagabonds at Little Burgundy and I tagged them in my Instagram post, and they included it in one of their e-mails – it was so cool! Here’s a photo of the e-mail:

I was so shocked and (I’m not going to lie lol) it made me feel kinda special. My boyfriend took a fab photo and seeing it in an e-mail that gets sent out to a mass amount of people is something I never expected. I printed it lol.

Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer – There’s a whole book review/blog post on this book but to sum everything up: this book was GREAT. If you are an original Twilight fan and you read the books when they came out, I think you’ll understand why I enjoyed this book so much. It reminded me of my high school days where I would curl up with a book from the Twilight saga/series and read the entire book in one day. I probably sound like a huge nerd but I loved it so much. Even though Midnight Sun is basically a retelling of Twilight but in Edward’s perspective, I still learned new things! There was so much that I didn’t know about Edward and although I knew where the story was going and knew how it ended, I still couldn’t get enough of it. I didn’t want this book to end! If that doesn’t tell you something, I don’t know what does. I really think that those of you that are my age and have never read a Twilight book wouldn’t like it though. Nostalgia plays a big part.

Crocheted Harry Styles cardigan – I’ve talked about this cardigan loads as well. I mean, these are favourites for a reason! In my last outfit post I talk more about this little project, but oh my god – I am so happy that I learned how to crochet. It’s so rewarding! Making this Harry Styles cardigan has taught me so much that I feel like I could crochet anything. Although there are a few things that I would have done differently, like scaling the pattern/instructions to fit my body better, I am super proud of myself. I can’t believe I made this thing! The feeling of being able to wear something you made all by yourself… Well, there’s nothing like it. If you’ve ever thought about crocheting, you should definitely try it! If I can do it, you can do it.

Hats from Free People – I am a hat girl through and through. I have a really early childhood memory of my dad telling me that I’m a hat girl. We’d go shopping and he’d place the most random hats on my head lol. He bought me this one outrageous winter hat in the most disgusting green colour. It also had multicoloured pom-poms on top of it. I LOVED that thing. I made my dad know how much I loved and appreciated it by literally wearing it to bed! Guys, I slept with this hat on lol. Now almost twenty years later, I still am tempted to sleep with my new hats. I got 3 new ones this past month! I know it’s a lot but I couldn’t resist. I got them all from work/Free People. I got two berets and a new bucket hat. I’m wearing all 3 in some of my latest Instagram photos if you’d like to give them a look. My Instagram is @tinyintoronto! I also try them on in the YouTube video above if you wanna fast forward through that and see them.

Hoop earrings from Mejuri – By now you guys are probably well aware of my addiction to Mejuri jewelry. For the longest time I had been eyeing some of their hoop earrings for every day, and it wasn’t until I noticed that a lot of my current hoops are tarnishing that I really considered just biting the bullet. So I bit that bullet and I am so glad that I did. I got two pairs. I’ve rotated between the two of them ever since I got them. They’re now the only earrings I wear! I think they were such a good investment and I believe that these will last much longer than any off my other ones that have already tarnished. The earrings that I got were their chunky hoop earrings and their tube hoop earrings. I got them both in gold and I think they’re the only earrings I need! I totally recommend them.

Emily In Paris on Netflix – I’ve talked about this show so much. I make a reference to this show whenever I can, and I think that even I’m starting to get annoyed with myself. I love this show! I’m sorry! It’s so good! I want to go to Paris so bad (and I’ve also said this to you guys before lol). But I highly recommend this show if you love fashion, Sex and the City, travelling, or Europe/Paris. It was such a great escape that I’ve watched the entire first season 5 times now (and counting). I also just found out today that a second season is FOR SURE happening and I can’t contain myself!

Duolingo App / learning FrenchEmily In Paris and multiple customers from Montréal lately have encouraged me to work on my French. I studied French in elementary and secondary school so I have a decent understanding of the language. I can understand when a person is speaking French to me, but I have a terrible time trying to speak French back to them. I’m hoping that with help from Duolingo that I’ll build my confidence and understanding so that I may soon be able to carry a full conversation in French. I’m at least hoping so! Fingers are crossed! I’ve taken at least 10 minutes out of my day to learn some French through Duolingo for about 50 days now. I have a 50 day streak on the app and I think that’s absolutely nuts. I can’t believe I’ve stuck to it for this long! If you are looking to learn a new language, I highly recommend Duolingo. They have so many other languages on there and I find that they make learning a new language far less dreadful.

Love Island US Season 2 – You guys probably think I have the worst taste in shows at this point. I swear there are shows that I like that are actually good. For example, “The Queen’s Gambit” on Netflix! I finished the show in ONE DAY but I had already filmed my October favourites video so it was too late to include it. I am for sure going to mention it in this month’s favourites though. Love Island is a little different than The Queen’s Gambit because it’s a reality show. This US version was recorded at the top of a hotel building in Las Vegas during our pandemic. The basis of the show is that there are a bunch of men and women that are single and confined to this rooftop to find love. They “couple up” and try to find love with one another and if they don’t find love, they run the risk of being sent home. It’s honestly just a lot of drama. There are some people that make you question if they’re really there for love or just doing whatever it takes to stay on the show the longest. Some of them do find love though. There’s one couple that is my absolute favourite. I love Justine and Caleb so much that I follow both of them on Instagram now (#JALEB). As bad as this show may sound, it was really addicting. The show is really good at making things interesting/stirring the pot. Give it a shot and let me know what you think!

That’s it, guys! That’s another monthly favourites post for the books. We’ve got two more months of this dreadful year and I think we’re going to make it! I really hope that the world starts to look up. I’m currently writing while we wait for the results of the US Presidential Election and I believe we’re in store for some good change (update: turns out I was right! YAY BIDEN HARRIS!).

Here in Ontario we’re dealing with a record number of new COVID-19 cases almost every day for the past few days, and I think we might be making our way towards another lockdown. It’s such a terrible and scary situation to see the numbers rise but we have to stay positive! And do our part! Please wear a mask and stay home if you can!

I hope you’re all safe and well and until next time,

– Tiny ❤
