A Beanie Baby

Welcome back! A new week means a couple more blog posts to share. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been trying to post on Wednesdays and Saturdays. One of my goals for the year is to consistently post on my blog (at least twice a week). I’ve been doing pretty well so far, don’t cha think?!

The only thing is that I only have outfit posts to share. Are we sick of them? Are they no longer exciting? I’m sorry to say this, but I have another one to share today! I loved this outfit. I seem to only get content when I’m visiting my boyfriend but that’s okay. He’s my favourite photographer in the world!

If you’re wondering the meaning behind the title of today’s post, it’s because I made this chunky beanie myself! I bought this kit from Wool and the Gang and it came with a pattern, some needles, and a ball of their “crazy sexy wool”. I really liked how convenient it was and it was so easy to make if you already know how to knit. The colour is also this beautiful deep purple/burgundy. I’m so happy with it! These photos are taken the day after I finished it. I just couldn’t wait!

In regards to the rest of the outfit, I have another new wardrobe addition to share. It’s this pair of jeans!!! I don’t even know if they can qualify as jeans because they’re made out of this jean-like material and have a drawstring at the waist. They’re also wide-legged/baggy and comfortable. They’re the best jeans I could ever own right now lol. These jeans are from Free People and I’ve had my eyes on them for literally weeks. I wasn’t sure if I was buying them because I’ve put on some pounds and need pants that fit, or if I genuinely liked them. I do genuinely like them! Baggy jeans are something you’re going to see a lot of this year. Not only does it just make sense with the pandemic and multiple lockdowns we’ve had to endure (comfort is all we care about right now), but they’re “a look”! They’re very early 2000s, and we’re seeing the trends from the 2000s really make a comeback. If you’re interested in these pants/jeans, I’ll link a similar pair here (mine have sold out): https://www.freepeople.com/shop/margate-pleated-denim-trouser?color=045

You can’t see the top I’m wearing but it’s this really pretty long sleeve that I picked up a while ago from Free People. The jacket is another steal I got from Urban Outfitters. This was last year when they do they’re additional 40% off sale or something crazy like that. I got this jacket for an amazing price and I’m so happy I didn’t just walk away from it. I love it so much! I love that it’s patent and in this beautiful chocolate-y brown colour. The faux shearling is a great touch as well.

For accessories, I haven’t really mixed it up. This means that maybe I should going forward? I’m still carrying that amazing bday gift that my boyfriend got me last year. I’m talking about the patchwork Donna bag from Nunoo. I’m actually quite shocked that I haven’t ordered any Nunoo bags lately! I’ll be honest, I have a few in my cart on their website but I haven’t pressed the button! I’m trying to be good but I have a feeling they’re going to come out with a new bag that I just can’t refuse. C’est la vie! The jewelry I’m wearing is quite hidden but you won’t be shocked to know that it’s all Mejuri – except for my necklace! Monica Vinader reached out to me to partner with them and they sent me a gift! I’ll have more about this in my next post.

The shoes that I’m wearing are a pair of Doc Martens. I’m pretty sure I wore them in my last post so I won’t say much more about them. They’re just these chunky deep cherry red (or oxblood?) Docs that I love. They have zippers so they’re super easy to put on and take off!

That’s it from me! I’m hoping to mix things up a bit in the upcoming weeks. I have some books that should be read, so maybe I’ll have a book review? For those of you that don’t follow me on Instagram, I’d like to share with you that my friend Julia and I are working on a podcast that is set to launch on March 1st! If you love books as much as I do, I think you’ll enjoy listening to @thebooksofficepod! It’s about books and their movie or TV adaptations, and whether or not the book is always better! Give us a follow!

Hope you’re having a fabulous Wednesday!

Until next time,

Not a Good Day for a Walk

So earlier this week my boyfriend and I thought it would be a good idea to go for a walk in a blizzard. Despite having snow coming at us in all directions, it was fun! It turned out to be the best part of our day. In my last post I shared that he moved so we decided to take a walk and check out the neighbourhood. There are so many cute houses in his area! I hope that I can afford one of those houses some day.

Now people don’t normally dress this way in Canada. I’m just annoying and rather layer than wear an ugly winter coat. Seriously though, winter coats are just so bulky and there’s like zero dimension/nothing exciting to look at. It covers the entire outfit and it’s just not appealing to me! I will wear a winter coat when necessary but in this scenario, I low-key wanted some photos of my “look” ha-ha.

When it comes to layering outfits in the winter, I start with a basic under layer. It’s the bit that’s going to be seen the least, so it might as well be simple! In this case, I wore these Straight jeans from Topshop. I love the basic wash of these jeans – such a nice blue! On top, I wore a white shirt. This one is a white blouse from Free People. It’s in this gorgeous material that’s so soft. I love it. From here I just added the fun bits! I wanted lots of colour. I added this mustard yellow puffy vest that I recently got from Free People. I’m absolutely obsessed with it. It’s to the point where I will find any excuse to wear it. I’m guilty of even wearing it at home in my room, on my bed. It’s called the “Roll With Us Puffer Vest” and here’s a link to it if you’re interested: https://www.freepeople.com/shop/roll-with-us-puffer-vest?color=031

The last layer of this look is my reversible puffer coat/sleeping bag that my sister got me for Christmas a couple of years ago. It’s pink on one side and an olive green on the other. It’s also from Free People. I love how colourful it is! And I can’t get enough of the pink side (obviously).

For accessories, I made another beret! I had this gorgeous blue yarn laying around without a purpose, so I decided to make a hat out of it! It’s such a cute colour. Again, I just wanna wear it wherever I go! The shoes I’m wearing are these cherry Doc Martens that were returned to my Free People location (for those of you that don’t know, I work for Free People lol). I can never find a pair in a size 5 so I scooped these up IMMEDIATELY. My bag of choice was Frankie. Also known as the pink patchwork “Donna” bag from Nunoo. You guys know how much I love their bags. I talk about it in almost all of my posts because I’m always wearing one of their bags. It’d be sick if they sponsored me, no? There isn’t a brand that I like more at their price point. I can’t say enough great things about them!

I hope this post inspires you to go for a walk in the snow. Obviously dress warm and don’t be out for too long, but we found it to be really fun! I hope you do too! We all need some fresh air anyway. Also, if you’re a fashion chick like myself, don’t let the weather ruin your way of expression! Yes, you may look ridiculous to some but you do you. I didn’t let any of that stop me, and I’m happier for it. Life’s too short to care too much about what other people think.

Hope you’re all safe and well!

The Yin to My Yang

HOLY MOLY! It’s been such a struggle to get content lately. The sun is never out and my photographer (AKA my boyfriend) has been busy moving this past week. But I did manage to get some photos on his moving day! Leave it to me to always weasel my way into getting him to take a few photos of me ha-ha. It was really nice of him to pause getting settled to get me some content. He just gets me. We love a supportive man! Or should I call him “the yin to my yang”?

So here are some quick outfit photos! Between you and me, I sort of made sure I looked cute in case we were able to take some photos ;(LOL). I also hadn’t seen him in a long time so I wanted to look my best, even if the plans were only to unpack all day. I’ve been dating him for almost 4 years and I still want to look nice for him. Do you still put effort when you’ve been dating for a while? I guess if I’m being honest, I’m doing it for me too. I’m happier when I look my best!

For this outfit, I really just wanted to show you guys my cute new tote bag. It’s this adorable fuzzy yin and yang bag (does the title and everything make sense now?) that I got with a matching scarf from Free People. They’re so cute!!! There are a couple of other options on their website as well, like a rainbow and a flower. I’ll link them for you here if you’re interested: https://www.freepeople.com/shop/carry-on-scarf-set/?category=SEARCHRESULTS&color=018&searchparams=q%3Dscarf%2520set&type=REGULAR&size=One%20Size&quantity=1 What I love most is that it’s not only cute but also practical. I can fit so much into this bag (even if it’s just yarn and books right now #lockdownlife).

The rest of the look is pretty simple. I wore my favourite “Wide Crop” jeans from TOPSHOP that I got a long time ago (it has to be at least 3 years ago). I wore this blouse I got for $15 CAD (!!!) from Free People. You can’t see it very well in this outfit but I will wear it again to show you guys the amazing collar on this top. It’s one of those big dramatic pointy collars that’s trending right now, and I’m so happy that I got it for such a great price. For shoes, I wore the Golas that I can’t stop raving about. I seriously want to get another pair. They’re super comfy and I literally wear them all the time. They’re also pink, which makes me love them even more.

Speaking of pink!!! I can’t forget my pink beret that I also picked up from TOPSHOP ages ago. It’s one of those pieces that I don’t think I’ll ever let go of. You guys know I have a growing beret collection and this pink one is one of my absolute favourites. It’s perfect when I’m looking for that pop of colour.

I can’t believe that I’ve almost forgot the best part! I picked up this jacket ages ago. I remember the day I got it like it was yesterday. I also remember the first blog post that I wrote about it. Guys, this jacket was such a steal. I got this faux fur jacket from Urban Outfitters for like $20. I swear it was something cheap like that and the original price was more than $150. I’m never letting this baby go!

Also, I don’t know if you guys have noticed the braid in my hair? I’m seeing it done on Instagram so I thought I would try it. I think I dig it! What do you guys think? Either than the fact that it’s hard to brush your hair with a braid in, I really like how it adds something more to my look.

Okay, that’s the end of today’s ramble. I really hope you’re all doing well. I can’t believe we’ve already made it through one month in 2021. That went by fast, no? How is everyone doing? Let me know if you’re doing okay in the comment section below!!!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

I’m sitting here and I can’t believe that I’m already on my fourth outfit post of the year. I’m also a little worried that this content isn’t as exciting as I’d hoped it would be. How do I mix this up while I’m stuck at home? Is there anything you guys want me to write about? I honestly wish I had a good book to recommend to you guys but unfortunately, the first two books of the year weren’t real page turners. The good news is that I’m already on my third book! I just need a fourth before the end of the month and I think I’ll be right on track to making that 50 book goal of mine! Isn’t that crazy? I’m honestly pretty proud so far.

Anyways, like I said, I’ve hit a road block in terms of my content ideas. I’ve decided to take a break from YouTube so I don’t think I’ll be doing “Monthly Favourites” anymore. If you’d like me to continue to share the things I love every month, please let me know in the comment section below! But yeah, there aren’t a lot of ideas flowing at the moment. Maybe you’d like to see what I get up to crochet-wise? I’m really open to anything! If you have any suggestions, you know where to leave them!

Now for today’s outfit, I’m actually sharing one of my most recent creations! I stumbled upon this gorgeous thick yarn from Michael’s and I’m absolutely in love with it. It’s making all of my chunky yarn creation dreams come true. My Instagram feed is full of all these knitted pieces using this gorgeous thick yarn and I haven’t been able to find anything similar! This is the closest thing that I can find without going to a specialty yarn store and I’m pretty satisfied. The list of projects that I wanna do just keeps growing!

The first thing I made with this thick yarn is the sweater vest that I’m wearing. I think I’m going to need a bigger hook so I ordered one (as well as more colours of that yarn lol). I love how thick it turned out but I want it to be even bulkier! My favourite part to this sweater vest is the neck. The sweater itself honestly didn’t take me long at all. It took two days and would have taken less time if I hadn’t had to redo the neck. I was very adamant on making the neck as bulky as possible, but then I went a little overboard – but that’s okay! I learned something new.

For the rest of the outfit, I added these faux leather pants that I’m actually super shocked still fit me. They’re from TOPSHOP Petite. I honestly thought they were going to be too tight, so that was a nice surprise. I wore my favourite chunky Adidas sneakers that I ordered online from SSense last year. I added a children’s New York Yankees hat that my brother got me for Christmas years and years ago, and a pink sheer super scrunchie from Free People. The jewelry that I’m wearing is of course, Mejuri. And the bag is also not a surprise. It’s my latest bag from Nunoo: the Bobby bag!

I really love this outfit. I wish I had somewhere to go to in this outfit. I think I would wear this either shopping or to grab lunch with my friends on the weekend? What is your favourite thing to do on the weekend? And pretend we aren’t in a pandemic and can’t go anywhere lol. Leave your answers in the comment section!

I hope you’re all safe and well.

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

Last weekend was all sunshine and I think it was exactly what I had been needing. I feel reenergized. I feel like I’m in the most positive of spirits, and it’s great! Do you guys feel a change in your mood when the sun is out? I feel it drastically. I don’t know if it’s all in my head but I feel an immediate boost. It gives me all of the energy! I was super motivated and it encouraged me to go outside and take some outfit photos! To be quite honest, I almost thought it was Spring!

You’ll be shocked to see what I wore given the fact that days prior I was wearing a full-on parka, a scarf, and a winter hat. There are a lot of favourite pieces in this outfit but I have to start with this Mickey Mouse graphic t-shirt. It’s a vintage shirt that my boyfriend ordered from Uncle Vintage, a local secondhand boutique. He loves it there and I’ve found quite a few treasures there myself – like this t-shirt! I highly recommend you check them out! Here’s their website: http://www.shopunclevintage.com On top of this super cool t-shirt, I layered one of my new favourite jackets from Free People: the infamous “Dolman jacket”. If you’re a Free People fanatic, you’ll know that this jacket sells like crazy (it’s actually sold out again). People RAVE about it. It comes in a ton of different colours and it honestly lives up to the hype. I love the quilted texture to it. It’s soft. I love this brown colour. It’s just an awesome oversized jacket that I can see myself wearing for years.

The pair of pants that I’m wearing is an oldie but a goodie. I picked these up where I get most of my pants, the TOPSHOP Petite section. They’re these black lightweight pleated pants that are covered in silver polka dots. They’re obviously the perfect length because the TOPSHOP Petite section never disappoints. The elastic waist is a bonus especially with this weight that I’ve gained in the past year. This outfit is just all-around cozy! Oversized t-shirt, oversized quilted jacket, AND flow-y pants with an elastic waist?! That’s all-around comfort. I don’t think it looks at all sloppy, do you? What I’m trying to say is that you can dress comfortable and still look stylish! 2020 taught me that.

Okay so, although I’m wearing printed pants and a t-shirt with a huge colourful graphic on it, I obviously felt like the outfit needed more. More is more! I also feel like we need fun and uplifting outfits these days. I think we should add on all of the fun accessories! I also think that since I’m not really going out or seeing anybody, I have the confidence to wear what I really want to wear. For this outfit in particular, I added a green fuzzy bag and these fun sunglasses with yellow lenses that are both from Free People (I’m sorry! I work there ok?!). For jewelry, I added a thick rope chain necklace from that favourite Korean boutique of mine on Queen St. West: Durumi (@thedurumi on Instagram).

The shoes are one of my best finds. I never have any luck with finding my size in shoes at Zara. But these loafers were offered in a size 5 and I just HAD to have them. Loafers are such a huge trend right now. I’m having such a fun time styling them (especially with sparkly socks like the ones I’m wearing in these photos). They kind of give me a Prada vibe that I’m of course not mad about ha-ha. Let me know in the comment section below if you’re a loafer lady or lad like myself!

I’m really digging my outfits that I’ve put together this year so far. They’re fun and they make me happy! I love when an outfit can change your whole mood/the way you carry yourself. I’m not going to lie, I think my boyfriend and I get our best shots when I’m in a good outfit. All this confidence comes out of nowhere. I wish I could share with you all what it feels like! It’s just great.

I hope you’re all safe and well, and are keeping a positive attitude! Good things are coming!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤

I think we can all understand that the only thing we’re seeing these days is our mirror. Toronto just announced further restrictions yesterday. Covid-19 just isn’t going away and unfortunately, that means I’m not going anywhere either. So here’s another “lockdown look”!

I picked up this adorable dress from work when we had this amazing sale of an additional 50% off all of our sale items. I think this sale was around Boxing Day (they might be all sold out now). This dress was a return in my size and of course, I just had to try it. I think I got it for $30 or less! That’s such a good price for Free People. A dress from their brand averages at about $168 CAD. It’s made in a cream denim material. I am absolutely in love with the dramatic shoulders. The belt gives great definition around the waist and I think it’ll be so lovely with some cute sandals or even sneakers in the the summertime. It’s a great piece and like I said, you just can’t beat the price!

Last week there was a sunny day (they’re hard to come by during the winter lol) and that basically meant that it was the perfect day to get some content. Sunny days are the perfect days to take photos because whether it be outside or in my bedroom, the natural lighting is just a million times better. These photos were obviously taken inside. I really wanted to wear this dress (because I miss wearing dresses SO MUCH) and my bare legs would have fallen off if I even dared to go outside.

I’ve talked about this multiple times but dresses are one of the easiest pieces in your wardrobe to style. All you need are accessories! This is another reason why I miss wearing dresses so much (summer, please come sooner!). Are you guys obsessed with the summertime as much as I am? I feel lost without the sun!

The accessories I chose for this outfit are: my pearl “crown”, my Mejuri jewelry, my OMW bag, cute socks from Free People, and my Zara loafers (they’re also my favourite shoes right now). The pearl headband that I call my crown (for obvious reasons) is one of my best Amazon purchases I’ve made to this day. I have worn it so much and have definitely made it worth the $15 CAD. I got it last year so I’m not sure if it’s still available, but I’d honestly just search “pearl headband” and it should come up! I’ve talked about my Mejuri jewelry a lot. They’re my favourite everyday jewelry brand. I’ve never been disappointed. I’m wearing two necklaces, three rings, and a pair of earrings from them in this outfit. If that doesn’t tell you how much I love Mejuri, I don’t know what will lol. I really recommend them and encourage you to check out their website: http://www.mejuri.com!

My OMW bag was mentioned in my last outfit post so I won’t repeat myself too much. It’s this brand from Vancouver, Canada that sells these beautifully handmade bags. I’m so obsessed with the one that I got that I’m considering adding another to my gigantic bag collection. Do I need another? Probably not. But OMW actually offers a much larger and practical version of this bag that might be worth it, well sort of worth it ha-ha. I definitely don’t need anymore bags!

These cute printed socks with a ruffled trim are from Free People. We have the cutest socks and I feel like I’ve said this before but it’s not a lie! They’re super cute and great with shoes like the pair that I’m wearing in this outfit. Cute socks and loafers are completely my vibe right now. I’m warning you, you might start to see a lot more of this.

Another thing that I should warn you, but it’s probably obvious, is that there are going to be a lot more outfit posts of me in my mirror. At this point, it’s all I have. Getting dressed up for my mirror is what’s keeping your fashion-loving girl sane. I quite like it because the options are endless. Weather isn’t a factor which is really nice. But yeah, here’s the first of many looks in front of the mirror that I found on Kijiji years ago (probably my best find tbh lol).

Hope you’re all safe and well! Sending you all the love!

– Tiny ❤

It’s time to kick off the outfit posts for the year! I’m so excited to see what kind of outfits I’ll be putting together. I wonder what kind of trends I’ll get caught up in this year. What do you predict will be trendy? I’m hoping that the crochet trend will stick around throughout the year because I’m loving making my own clothes.

If you’re wondering about the title of this post: 2020 was pretty gloomy, wouldn’t you say? Although it was indeed a gloomy/cloudy day, I chose to wear lots of colour to manifest a far less gloomy new year!

The outfit that I’m sharing today includes a knitted cardigan that I would so very much like to recreate if I could get my hands on these kinds of yarns. I’m not sure if you can tell in the photos, but the yarns used to create this cardigan are so pretty and soft. It’s just such great quality and most definitely not from Michael’s Craft Store lol. I picked up this sweater during Free People’s sale. We had an additional 50% off all of our sale items! Our merchandise is NEVER that cheap/heavily discounted! It was wild. I may have gotten a little carried away with it but I am so happy with what I picked up that I have zero regrets. Stay tuned for those pieces to be featured in future outfit posts!

This cardigan that I’m wearing seems to no longer be on the website. So I unfortunately can’t link it for you. But there are so many great knits on http://www.freepeople.com if you want to check it out! If I had all the money in the world, I would most definitely pick up more.

For the rest of the outfit, I wore those snakeskin flared pants that I picked up at the beginning of the fall season. They are unbelievably comfortable and I love how they’re not tight against my tummy. I’ve been wearing them an embarrassing amount. Their length is also perfect for my short legs. I picked them up at the TOPSHOP Petite section. If you’re a tiny girl like me, and haven’t heard this from me before, I HIGHLY recommend TOPSHOP Petite for tiny women. Everything fits so perfectly and they’re trendy pieces at an affordable price! I get all of my pants there. I also picked up this Britney Spears graphic t-shirt from TOPSHOP a couple of years ago, when I worked there. It’s been one that I always go back to. It goes with so much. And I mean, who doesn’t love Britney? She played a very important part in my childhood.

Now for the accessories! You guys know I love my Gola sneakers. They were such a nice surprise. I bought these sneakers because I was drawn to the colours but now after wearing them, I’m hooked!!! They’re so comfortable and I love how they look with everything. I would definitely get another pair if I had a reasonable excuse ha-ha. My little charcoal grey beret is by yours truly. I made this beret with the little pom-pom on top, and I’m absolutely obsessed with it! You guys know I have an obsession with berets in general. I wear them every year. I have a collection of them. But now that I know how to make them, I want to make one in every colour imaginable! That’s probably a little too much but you guys know what I mean.

The bag is new! I got it a while ago but was waiting for the right outfit to have my OMW bag make it’s debut here on the blog. First of all, this brand is Canadian. They’re designed and hand-made in Vancouver, Canada – which is amazing! I love to support fellow Canadians. They’re made with vintage, dead stock or upcycled fabrics and every bag is one of a kind. You can visit Olivia’s website at http://www.omwbags.ca or check out her Instagram @omw.bags! I love my OMW bag and it’s honestly so beautifully made.

Alright, there you have it! I’ve officially posted the first outfit blog post of 2021! I am very hopeful, like I said in my last post, for what this year will bring. Keeping a positive mindset is what I plan to focus on and so far it’s working. As long as I’m doing my best and putting positive energy out into the universe, I’m sure some great things will come!

I hope you’re all having a great day! Remember that there’s so much to be thankful for.

Until next time,

BENCH PHOTOS: Winter Edition

I’ll apologize now for the lack of originality. I really couldn’t think of a title for this blog post but they’re quite literally the same bench photos, just in a more winter-y setting lol. Well I guess there isn’t even snow, but you get the idea!

This blanket scarf that I’m wearing is one that I had been wanting for over a month. It’s called the ‘Prep Brushed Plaid Blanket Scarf‘ and comes in three different colour ways. I had it in my Free People cart for the longest time because I’m obsessed with this bright green/yellow colour. I think it’s such a great accent colour. I want it in every form! Anyways, I had this scarf in my cart and then we got it at our store location. Then I was like, there isn’t any snow so what’s the rush? There’s also like zero people shopping right now so this scarf isn’t going anywhere, right? But then we went into our second lockdown and I figured it was now or never. And that’s how this scarf became mine! Do you like it? Was it worth it? I think so!

It’s honestly the coziest thing. As I was in the car on my way back to the city from Christmas in my hometown, I passed out wearing this scarf. It felt like I was bundled up in my bed (but I was also up at 5am getting the turkey ready with my mom that morning) so I fell asleep instantly. I think this scarf has been a go-to lately because it’s warm and it goes with all of my coats. For this outfit, I was going for a more neutral look so I wore my favourite cream teddy coat that I got from TOPSHOP 3 years ago. I’m happy it still fits and that it’s not completely matted all over. Do you know what I mean? Some of my past teddy coats have turned all clumpy and that’s just not cute. For those of you that are wondering if this is the coat that I wear all winter, don’t worry. I actually bit the bullet and got a real winter coat this season! There is no way I’m risking my health for fashion this year lol.

For the rest of my outfit, I kept it really casual. I was just going for a walk (but obviously I had to use it as the perfect excuse to get photos in my new scarf haha). I wore the second of two pairs of jeans that actually fit me right now. They’re from TOPSHOP two years ago. I think they’re called the “Wide Crop” fit? I’m letting you guys hear it first, one of my NY’s resolutions is to freaking destroy this 2020 lockdown weight that I’ve gained. I could just accept it and buy new jeans, but I’m not there yet. I wanna try to lose it first. You can’t see it in any of these photos but I’m also wearing the ‘Elias Cashmere V Sweater‘ from Free People underneath all of this. My first ever cashmere sweater and let me tell you, it’s LIFE CHANGING. So soft and warm. Holy moly, it’s so nice. I also wore my favourite Mejuri bits that I’ve talked about in all of my outfit posts, so I won’t bore you with those details again (at least not this time lol). I wore my latest and greatest Nunoo bag: Bobby. And last but not least, the closest thing I have to winter boots right now: my Dr. Marten Leona Platform Ankle Boots!

Jewelry – MEJURI

Christmas is over and I’m now thinking about the fresh start we’re about to have. Are you guys feeling the same way? Even if things are the same for the first few months of 2021, I think I need a whole new reset. This year has been an absolute whirlwind. I may or may not share my list of resolutions within the upcoming weeks, but I haven’t decided. I’ve definitely learned and grown a lot. However, one thing this past year has taught me is that not everything goes as planned. Sometimes you just have to take things as they come.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, or at least as wonderful as it could be under all of these circumstances. I hope you have an even better new year!

Be safe!

Hey guys! Or should I say, “Hey there, strangers!” I feel like it’s been such a long time since I’ve posted on here but it’s only been 10 days! A lot has been going on at my end and I don’t even know where to begin.

First, I think I’ve mentioned that we’re in lockdown here in Toronto but there’s been talk about further restrictions. I’ve been a little stressed and battling myself on whether or not I should go home and see my family for Christmas. Depending on what’s announced, I may just stay home to be safe. I don’t want to be the reason anyone gets sick.

On top of that, I’ve also been SO BUSY crocheting! I’ve been like one of Santa’s elves and I’ve been working on multiple projects. Some are Christmas gifts, and some are orders! I have 3 orders that I’m currently working on and trying to get done as fast as I can. I’m pretty bad (bad as in I do this all the time) at biting off more than I can chew. It’s tough for me to say no, and as much as I hate to admit it, I’m a bit of a people pleaser. I just don’t want to disappoint anybody! I want everyone to be happy, you know? Anyways, I’ve been super busy and stressed out with that.

And while all of this is going on, I still have a few days a week where I’m going to work and packaging online orders. So yeah, I’ve been pretty busy and I feel bad that I haven’t been able to read, edit videos, write blog posts, or even post on Instagram as much!

It’s been a lot to juggle but I’m getting through it and I’m here today, and that’s all that matters! I mean, when I finish projects like the one I’m about to share, it’s super rewarding and makes it all worth it.

Here’s my latest crochet creation! I can’t take full credit for this design. I was inspired to recreate a cropped knit sweater by this brand that’s currently getting a lot of attention: Hope Macaulay. You can check out her stuff here: https://hopemacaulay.com She makes these colossal knits that are absolutely stunning, but also quite expensive. This one that I was smitten with, and ended up recreating, is priced at around $400 CAD. I don’t know about you but this year, I don’t really have that kind of money laying around to spend on one sweater lol. The next best thing for me was to try to crochet it. And with what I’ve learned this year from the other projects that I’ve completed, I was able to recreate it by simply looking at this picture!

Those were my inspiration photos from their website, and here’s what I made!

You can definitely tell that I crocheted it instead of knitting it because the stitches are really different. I used a brighter pink and a different texture of yarn. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I think it’s my best creation yet! I’m proud that I could make it based off a photo. I didn’t follow a pattern, a video, or anything! I was a little worried about making the puffy sleeves but they were easier than I expected. I’ll be honest, guys: I’m still just so shocked that I made this myself! I really hope this inspires some of you to try to recreate anything that you’ve had your eye on. How to crochet is very easy to learn. I’m teaching my roommate and she’s almost done her first sweater! Not only will you save money, but it’ll be so special because you made it yourself and no one else will have anything like it.

But enough about me! How are you guys doing? Christmas is in less than 5 days. Are you looking forward to it? Dreading it? Have you been busy too? Let’s talk about it in the comment section below!

I hope you’re all happy, safe, and well!

Until next time,

(If I’m not back before Christmas, I hope you have the best Christmas possible!)

Parisian Wannabe 4ever

Hey everyone! We all know that I want to go to Paris, I’m studying French, and I watched Emily in Paris about five times (and counting). Just when you thought I couldn’t possibly take this obsession any further, I’ve somehow managed to lol.

I got this really colourful yarn and it spoke to me. It said, “Please make me into a beret!” So I did exactly that. And she’s not only a colourful beret, but a beret with a POM-POM! Yes, I learned how to make pom-poms as well. However, I think pom-poms are more difficult than the actual crochet part. I’m not even joking! It took so many tries to get a nice round and full-looking pompom. The first five were kind of scraggly (to say the least).

Now this yarn was thicker than what I’m used to. I think I might have had a better result if I used a bigger crochet needle, but it still turned out really well for my first ever beret. I think I’m going to make a couple more before I start offering to make them for anybody. I didn’t get enough elasticity or stretch in this one as I would have liked. I love the colours though. This beret, especially with the pom-pom, kind of reminds me of a hat someone would wear at a golf course, and I kinda love that.

For these photos, I just wanted to be playful and share with you the beret more than anything. I threw on these black denim overalls that I have worn in a previous post. They are super comfy and from Free People. I’ve actually been wearing them so much because they’re easy to wear and I can move around in them without feeling restricted in any way. Overalls are honestly the best. Underneath, I actually wore the same top that I wore in my last outfit post! Like I said then, this top is so versatile. It’s also pretty trendy right now because I’m seeing huge collars literally everywhere.

As you can see in these mirror photos, I am not wearing shoes lol. That’s because realistically, I’m not going anywhere! I’m in lockdown here in Toronto. I’m not really working. Typically, I’m home, filthy, in bed, and crocheting or reading my life away. It sounds awful but it’s the new normal. On this day, I obviously showered but I couldn’t be bothering to add shoes to the outfit. Is it lazy? Or maybe I just wanted you guys to see these cute socks I got at work! We have so many fun ones at Free People. It’s sounds pricey, but you can get 3 pairs of socks for $40 CAD. One pair is $16. I know, they’re expensive. But if you try them, they’re soft, cozy, and great quality!

HAT – made by yours truly!

Holy moly, everything is from Free People, eh? How original. Thinking about starting another sweater in my near future. ALSO, I think I’m about to just dive in on this whole business idea. I’ve done a poll on Instagram, the followers say it’s what they want. But if you think I’m making a big mistake, please speak now or forever hold your peace!

Hope you’re all safe and well! Thank you so much for paying attention to my lunacy, it’s much appreciated.
