March Favourites 2023

Please don’t hate me if you think I say this every month, but I can’t believe that we’re officially 3 months into 2023 already. Like, how is it April?! Is this a (late) April Fool’s joke? Time is going by way too fast. This past month I watched a heck of a lot of good TV shows, crocheted some roses, became a Tamagotchi mom, and found my favourite lip balm of all time – but those are only a few of the things I loved last month. Keep reading if you want to know more!

Crochet Rosettes (made by me!) – I’m still playing with the idea of doing a blog post on this “rosette” trend. What are rosettes compared to roses any way? It’s probably a dumb question/a Google search away, but I’m genuinely curious. Some people have called this trend “corsages” or “statement flowers”, but I think I like “rosettes” more. Basically, they’re single roses either in a choker or brooch form. I’ve seen them pinned to blazers, button-downs, purses, and denim jackets. I’m seeing a lot attached to a string and tied around your neck. A lot of designers have also incorporated them into their clothing, too. I’ve seen thin straps with a rose on it. A dress with a rose in the middle of the chest area. I kind of want to show you some examples? Should we dig deeper? Maybe I’ll do some more research. If you want to learn more about rosettes or see how I style my crocheted rosettes, or even see how I would style this trend in general, let me know in the comment section.

Tamagotchi (Pluto) – HUGE shoutout to my best friend, Emily, who sent me this late Christmas present this month. I’ve shocked myself by how much I’m loving having a Tamagotchi again. It’s so nostalgic and just reminds me of the simpler times lol. Did you ever have a Tamagotchi? They’re kinda needy, no? If I spent too much time working or doing something else one day, Pluto instantly went back to his home planet/died, and I had to start over again. Yes, my Tamagotchi’s name is Pluto. Yes, I’m still having fun even though I keep having to restart/get new eggs lol. I also think a Tamagotchi is a sick accessory. Here’s a pic of him hanging from my Marge Sherwood bag.

Emma Chamberlain’s podcast “Anything Goes” – I started listening to this podcast after I saw Emma post about it on Instagram. I think I’ve listened to every new episode since. I know that everyone kind of loves Emma, but I think it’s all valid. Not overrated. I’m an Emma Chamberlain fan. She’s just a unique person. I think she’s pretty genuine/authentic as influencers go. I love the way she articulates herself, and how funny she is. She’s so naturally hilarious. I will be laughing out loud while listening to her podcast, and I don’t even think she’s trying to be funny. Her topics range from anxiety, to her daily routine, to religion, to all the weird stuff she bought recently. I appreciate her being so down to earth and speaking about subjects that not many of us are confident enough to speak about. I used to watch Emma’s YouTube videos so I’ve known about her for a while. She doesn’t post as often on YouTube so I’m appreciating that I can now rely on a new episode of “Anything Goes” every Sunday and Thursday. You can check out her podcast on Spotify.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid (book & show) – You already know I loved the book if you read my last blog post. I wrote a book review that you can check out *here*. My boyfriend and I watched the show this week, and I think I loved it just as much as the book! Actually *we* loved it just as much. My boyfriend’s been listening to one of their songs, “Regret Me”, while in the shower and in the car on his way home from work (sorry babe lol). He got so invested in the show that it made me love him even more. But the show is so good and is exactly how I had pictured it while I was reading. They made a few changes but I think I understand why they did them. For example, Camila has her first daughter, Julia, but then has twins in the book as well. They completely took out the twins in the show but I get how it could have made things a little complicated on screen. The finale broke me. I knew it was coming but I didn’t expect for it to make me so emotional. I was still crying after the credits lol. Anyways, we’ve been recommending the show to our friends and they’ve fallen in love with it, too – you have to watch Daisy Jones & The Six on Amazon Prime Video!

Shadow & Bone on Netflix (Season 2) – I don’t know if you remember my obsession last year, but I was OBSESSED after watching the first season of Shadow & Bone. So obsessed that when I heard that it was based off a series of books, I bought them all right away. I’ve read all the books so I can tell you that I was fully prepared, and beyond excited, to watch the second season. It didn’t disappoint. Even though I knew how everything would eventually play out, I still somehow felt like I was kept on my toes. I also cried during episode 6. I cried during episode 8, too. Mal & Alina have the cutest love story. Or maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic. I enjoyed watching season 2 so much (the finale was so good) that I think I might read the third book and get myself ready for the third season (if there is a third season). If you appreciate a good fantasy series, books or TV show, Shadow & Bone is one you might want to check out.

“K” Necklace from Maison Miru – Maison Miru reached out to me in March wanting to collaborate. I love jewelry (y’all know this lol) and if they wanted to send me a few things and have me post for them, I was 100% up for it. They had me choose a few pieces that I liked and ended up sending me a few pairs of earrings, and this initial charm necklace. I have quite a few necklaces with the letter “A”, so this time I thought it would be cute to wear my boyfriend’s initial: “K”. I’ve seen a few girls do this and I know it’s a little lame and obnoxious, but I love him. And why not have a bit of him with me always? Ever since receiving this necklace in the mail, I’ve been wearing it nonstop. If you’d like your own, here’s a link: Initial Charm Necklace from Maison Miru

Yoda’s stamp of approval ❤

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm – WHY oh WHY am I just realizing the magic that is Burt’s Bees lip balm now? I feel so late to the party. The air is very dry at work and it’s still winter-y, so naturally my lips have been drier than normal. I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed a good lip balm. I always keep Laneige’s lip mask in my purse but I don’t really want to use it when I’m working and commuting on the bus/subway. It’s not sanitary. I needed a lip balm that didn’t require me to stick my finger in a pot to apply. I needed a classic stick/tube of lip balm that would still give me the results I wanted. Burt does that. I can’t believe I never thought to use Burt’s lip balm sooner. It’s affordable, easy to apply, and keeps my lips SO soft. I just use the one with vitamin E and peppermint. I love it. I think this is the lip balm that I’ll be using for the rest of my life – no exaggeration.

Those are March’s favourites. I love writing about my monthly favourites. It’s so much fun and easy to chat about things that make me happy. What have you been loving recently? Did you discover your favourite lip balm, too ha-ha?

Hope you’re all having a fab weekend!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤
