Another year, another 12 months of monthly favourites? Yes, I’m at it again. I will be trying my best this year to provide a post filled with some of my favourite things every month. These things could vary from a certain type of food I ate a lot of during the month, or a snack I got addicted to, a song, an album, a nail polish colour, a book, a TV show, a movie, a new addition to my wardrobe (purse, sweater, shoes, etc.), a person, a place, a sport, or anything else you can possibly think of! I just think it’s neat to share. And for me, personally, I like to look back and see when I discovered certain things, or when I rekindled my love for something again. Can you tell I’m very sentimental? You only get one life, alright? I don’t know why but I feel compelled to document everything.
Now, where do I begin?

Journaling – If you read my “And we’re back! (HAPPY NY)” post, you know that one of the things that I’ve been trying to do more of this year is journaling. I’ve journaled almost every day so far and I’m pretty proud of myself. I don’t know why I found it to be such a chore before, but now I love it. I think it’s such a great way to step back and reflect on myself. I’ve been taking the time to either reflect on how I’m feeling or what’s been bothering me, or just how I think my day went overall – it’s very therapeutic! I totally recommend it. It doesn’t take as long as you may think. You don’t have to fill a page or write a novel every day. Some entries are a couple of sentences! It’s just nice to have a place to express myself/dump my thoughts. It’s so great with helping you clear your mind, I can’t recommend it enough
The White Lotus on HBO/Crave – I had been hearing so much about this show. I have all these shows listed in my phone that I want to watch (let me know if you’d like to see this list!) but just can’t get the time to start them. When I watched this year’s Golden Globes and listened to Jennifer Coolidge’s speech when she won the award for Supporting Actress, I knew I had to start watching “The White Lotus.” I told my boyfriend that we have to start it ASAP, and we did. AND it’s great! I love the concept of the show. Each episode made me want to watch more. We just recently finished the second season and I can’t believe the ending. I mean, I saw it coming, I just didn’t know that that was how it was going to happen. If you know what I’m saying, let’s discuss in the comment section! I honestly wanna hear your thoughts. Are you ready for a third season? What did you think of the characters? I think I had to love Tanya McQuoid. My boyfriend thinks she’s crazy. I think she’s amazing. She’s just so unapologetically herself, and who doesn’t love Legally Blonde? Jennifer Coolidge is iconic. But there were a lot of other characters I enjoyed. Armond in the first season was pretty entertaining, as well as the Mossbacher family. That newlywed couple from that season drove me insane. Albie and Portia. Lucia and Mia. Like I said, we must discuss in the comments!

My Red Crochet Scarf – A lot has already been said about this scarf that I finished this month. I literally wrote all about it in my last blog post. If you’re interested, I’ll leave it here.

Marc Jacobs The Tote Bag – My boyfriend, being the best human that he is, gifted me this beautiful bag for Christmas and I’ve pretty much used it every day since. I’m so in love with it (y’all know I’m a bag lady lol). It’s in the colour “wolf grey”. I wear it to work because it’s the perfect size to carry all of my everyday essentials: my agenda, a notebook, a book, my Muji pens, my water bottle, my wallet and all your other typical purse things. Honestly, it’s the perfect work bag! I definitely recommend it. I think it can also fit a laptop so you could even consider it for school/college.

Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater from Reformation – I’ve been wearing this sweater to work way more than I probably should. I want to say that I’ve worn it at least twice a week this month (I’m actually at a point where I need to tell myself to not wear it). It’s such a cozy sweater and it’s so easy to wear. I throw it on with everything. I purchased it in the “chestnut” colour, which is this deep brown colour that I’ve been obsessed with. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I’ve been hung up on brown for what seems like a very long time now. Like, I reallyyyy love brown. I think it’s so much more interesting than black. I’ve always been attracted to warmer colours. I don’t know – would you say brown is a warmer version of black? Maybe I’m talking nonsense. I just feel very passionate about the colour brown, especially this brown sweater. If it’s in your budget (I got an employee discount on it, so I get it if it’s too much for a sweater lol), you should totally get it. It’s made of recycled cashmere. Like I said, I’ve worn it so, so, so much. I think I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth based on how much wear I’ve gotten out of it already. I think it was a good investment, and it will probably continue to be a favourite of mine for the rest of the winter season. If you wanna take a closer look at this sweater, I’ll link it here.

Gyubee Japanese Grill + Melona Ice Cream Bars – Last month, my boyfriend took me out for dinner at this restaurant called “Gyubee“. I think it’s a chain of restaurants because there are multiple locations in the GTA, but it’s so good. If you like Japanese barbecue, you should definitely give this restaurant a try! The service is great and the food is SO YUMMY. It’s all-you-can-eat and fills my stomach perfectly. Sometimes after eating, I feel full but it’s a disgusting full. Like, I’m-going-to-be-sick full. Gyubee puts me at the perfect/warm and cozy full. We went again this month and for dessert this time, I was offered a Melona. I had never had a Melona before so I felt like my life had changed. They’re the best popsicles/ice cream bars I’ve ever had, no exaggeration. I’m not joking when I say that they’re absolute game changers. I love the texture of them. They’re so creamy and delicious. We found boxes of them on sale at No Frills, and I think we’re going to have to grab a box every time we go now. It’s my latest obsession. We got a box of mango-flavoured Melona’s last week and I’ve been absolutely loving life. I’m creating a terrible habit of wanting one every night after dinner. I think I want to try the honeydew and the coconut flavour next, but there’s also a purple yam/ube flavour – I wanna try them all! If you’ve never had them, YOU HAVE TO TRY THEM. Then report back to me and tell me how right I am ha-ha. 5 stars/100% delicious.

Watching Oscar Nominations – On January 24th, less than a week ago, one of my favourite seasons ~ Oscar Season ~ started! All of the Oscar nominations were announced, I wrote them all down in my notebook, and I’m ready to check them off as I watch them. I’ve already watched a few. I can’t wait to tell you my favourites. So far, I’ve watched Everything Everywhere All At Once & a documentary called “The Elephant Whisperers“. My plan is that I’m going to start with the nominations for Best Picture and go from there. Top Gun: Maverick was nominated for Best Picture, and it was the movie my boyfriend and I watched on our first date! And currently, as I’m finishing up this post, I’m watching “All Quiet on the Western Front“. I’ll be sure to give you an Oscars update next month!
Those are all my favourites that I have for January. I don’t know about you, but I think January went by pretty fast. The more I think about it, I think this year is going to be over sooner than I know it. It sounds crazy because it’s still only January but time goes by fast. Gotta take it one day at a time though. There are so many exciting things that I’m looking forward to, and I can’t wait to share them with you! Next month I have our vacation to Cancun, Mexico, and we’re going to the SZA concert with my littlest sister when we’re back. I’m sure there will be so much more to love and share.
I hope you enjoyed reading this! Hope you’re having a great start to your week!
Until next time,
– Tiny ❤
