Happy 2023 everyone! I hope you’re all having a great start to your new year. I don’t know about you, but I love a fresh start/that perfect clean slate. I feel like there’s a strong feeling of opportunity/the feeling that you’re capable of doing anything that I really like? I know more than half the time we don’t end up sticking to anything we goal ourselves to do (at least I don’t lol), but it’s just nice to know that the thought/optimism is there? Anyways, if new year resolutions aren’t for you, maybe wait for next week’s blog post.
I won’t be sharing all of my goals for 2023, but I do have a vision board that I just finished yesterday and I’ll share a few that I really want to make happen.

Let’s start with: exercise/healthier lifestyle. This is such a common new year resolution. I know for a fact that I’ve said this multiple times in the past, but I’m doing it this year! I’m not trying to get a 6-pack or anything (although that would be nice). I just don’t want to spend a day deep-cleaning the apartment and have to rest my back the next day (this happened two days ago). Like, I know I’m almost 30 years-old, but my body/muscles shouldn’t be acting this way – or should they be? Anyways, I’ve realized that I definitely need to move my body more. Maybe some yoga classes? Maybe some cardio? I really want to make a commitment to get my body moving more regularly. Maybe I’ll even do a 30-minute workout video from YouTube! The only set-back is my work schedule but I’ll have to wake-up earlier to fit that in, or do something afterwards.
On top of exercising, I want to eat better. My boyfriend and I are notorious for ordering take-out food at least 3 times a week. It’s so unhealthy and definitely a waste of money. I want to learn to make healthy meals at home. I want us to make lunches for work every day. It’d be nice to do a weekly or bi-weekly grocery trip. It’s going to be a lot of work but I’m really motivated to at least stop ordering pizza, pasta & wings, and Hakka every week. Let’s also not forget water. I think another big part of being healthy is drinking the appropriate amount of water every day: 8 glasses = 2 litres. I read something that said that those who don’t drink enough water every day tend to die sooner. I’m not trying to do that! Drink your water, folks.
Another new year resolution of mine is to journal every day in 2023. I’ve stuck to it so far, and we’re already a week in! One thing I noticed when I was moving into my boyfriend’s place was that I have a lot of old journals filled with memories that I’m so happy that I’m able to remember. I think I wouldn’t have these memories if I hadn’t jotted them down. I feel good and optimistic about this new year. I think there will be a ton of great memories in 2023 so I’m going to journal every single day, the good and the bad. I bought a new journal and I’ve written every night, and have even added cute and quirky things inside. For example, my boyfriend bought me flowers on the day of my dads passing and I’ve clipped a piece of the wrapping paper and taped it inside. Call me sentimental or call me a hoarder. I’m going to remember it forever.
As I mentioned earlier, I am turning the big 30 this year. My boyfriend and I have been flirting with the idea of maybe going on a trip together for my birthday? The dream is to go to Italy. He’s been before and wants to go again, and I’ve always wanted to go so I think it’s perfect. Here’s to hoping the dream comes true!
I’ve also put on my vision board that I want to transform our balcony this year. I want to create a little summer oasis attached to our home. Basically, the best reading and relaxing nook and a great little space to hold get-togethers. Our balcony is a decent size and if we actually get around to giving it a makeover, maybe I’ll document it? I’ll take before and after pictures, and maybe also take some pictures of the process. Stay tuned! I want to start as soon as weather permits!
This year I want to get my driver’s license. Don’t really have much to say about it but putting it here holds me accountable. I think it’s about time I learned how to drive.
Last but not least, I want to actually read 50 books this year. Next week I’ll be sharing the number of books that I read last year, and I didn’t make it. It’s not that I’m making an excuse, but last year was pretty life-changing. A lot happened that made me lose most of my focus when it came to reading (ended a 5-year relationship, lost my job, found a new job, moved out for the first time in 6 years, etc.). As disappointed as I am that I didn’t complete my personal goal, I don’t regret anything. I learned so much that I wouldn’t have if I hadn’t gone through it. Hopefully, in 2023, I won’t have as much happen to affect my reading. Or perhaps I’ll learn to keep reading regardless? It’s certainly an outlet for me. Keeps me sane. I just need to really push myself and carve that time to complete a book once a week. I’m going to do it this year. I’ve joined a few book clubs again that will help me. I don’t think I’ve shared this on the blog, but I just recently created my dream bookshelves. I think I’ve said it multiple times that I want to have my own library some day. That alone is a huge motivator. I can’t wait to share my little library with you when it’s officially complete (I have too many books that I need another Billy bookcase, or two lol). A blog post + pictures are coming soon!!!
There are a few other things that I’ve written down that I want to accomplish in 2023. But they’re not really worth mentioning. Saving money is one. It kinda speaks for itself. I just want to start saving for bigger things (ie. a house lol). I also want to blog more, post more on Instagram, and paint more often, but that pretty much concludes my goals/hopes for 2023. However, last year has reminded me that anything can happen, so I’m just going to take it day by day, and make sure I always try my best.
Until next time,
– Tiny ❤
