Thankful for Long Weekends

Canadian Thanksgiving was exactly two weeks ago and I had planned to share this post last weekend, but things got a little hectic with work and what not. Life really gets in the way sometimes, you know? Better late than never is what I always say! (I really think that if you skimmed through some of my past posts you’d notice that I actually do say this quite a lot lol) Anyways, I’m here to share my long weekend with you. Even though it’s two weeks in the past, I still think it’s worth sharing. Did any of you celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving? Did you have a nice long weekend? Share with me what you loved most in the comments!

Okay, where do I begin? I don’t know about you but when I go home for the weekend, it feels like 5 days. We try to pack so much into a day and a half that I feel like I need a week to recover. It’s exhausting but always worth it. So it began on Saturday when I took my boyfriend home with me that evening after work. We caught the train and met up with my little brother, who then drove us to my sister’s. My sister’s house is kind of our family hub/where we host all of our gatherings. Speaking of gatherings, instead of having multiple gatherings, my family had decided to combine two celebrations into one. Thanksgiving is October 11th and my littlest sister’s birthday is the 10th. So not only was this a weekend to give thanks, but it was also a weekend to celebrate my baby sister turning 14 years-old! In case you’re new here, I am the oldest of four children. I don’t know about you but saying that alone makes me feel pretty old. I can’t believe how big she is now! I am 14 years older than her and although it’s a huge age gap, I’d say we’re pretty close. I also feel like sometimes I’m her second mom but like, the cool one? (Sorry ma!) I’m so proud of her and she kind of reminds me of a mini me. That weekend, for her birthday, we helped her pick out her rugby “gear”? I don’t know what to call it. We got a mouth guard, cleats, shorts, and whatnot. I never played rugby. I was more of a soccer or volleyball kind of gal, but she’s apparently pretty good at it. I asked her what she wanted from me for her birthday and she asked for grey Nike sweatpants. I gotta say that she’s always been pretty easy to shop for, which I (and my wallet) appreciate a lot.

All four siblings – do we look alike?
Just a family photo with the DQ cake lol

So after Thanksgiving dinner, we had pie and ice cream cake. We LOVE Dairy Queen’s ice cream cakes and for the past couple of birthdays we’ve had a coupon – woohoo! Honestly, it’s really nice to come home and see my whole family. Not only do I get to see them but they get time to get to know my boyfriend. Most importantly, I get to see my nephew. What a handsome little man. He’s so close to walking that I think it’s going to happen any day now. Please cross your fingers and hope I get to see his first steps for me! This past weekend we celebrated his FIRST birthday and the entire time I was on edge. I was like, “Is he going to do it?!” I can’t believe the little man is already a year old. He’s got all of these face expressions now. He’s making lots of new noises/maybe words? He loves playing with coloured blocks. He loves cars. Where has the time gone?! For his birthday, we planned this whole party with a theme. It was called, “Wild One” lol. Basically, it was a safari/zoo animal theme. I’ll insert some pictures! My sister asked me to vlog it as well, so stay tuned for that. I can share it here when it’s up if you’d like, or you can find it on my YouTube channel.

I crocheted a lion for part of my nephew’s birthday gift!

With these past few weekends spent with my family, I just feel more and more grateful to have them in my life. Unconditional love, you know? Nothing better. And yes, all of us under one roof can be a little chaotic (especially with three dogs). My brother’s dog actually took a poo on my boyfriend’s shoes when we first arrived LOL. But I think what we have is a beautiful mess that I wouldn’t change for anything. I’m actually headed up to see my sister (yes, again) tomorrow! Even though I was there only two days ago, I will be making a special train ride to go up there for part of the day. My sister may kill me for mentioning it on here BUT she’s having baby #2! My sister has the appointment where she finds out the gender tomorrow and asked me to be there, so of course I’m going to be there. Not going to lie though, it’s been such a busy past few days that I’m already ready for my next day off (which is sadly a week from today). Life’s so busy right now. I’m picking up some extra shifts. Actually, now that I’ve said that, STAY TUNED FOR ANOTHER ANNOUNCEMENT. I’m saving money but I’m not yet ready to tell you why. Gosh, so many updates! It’s so exciting and I can’t wait to tell you!! All you need to know right now is that I will have a ton of content next year. Wanna guess in the comment section?

I will make sure to dedicate another blog post to just getting you (and mostly myself lol) up to speed. I just got very overwhelmed and I think it’s time to sign off.

Leaving you with a photo of my nephew trying on his first Halloween costume: Heihei from Moana! HE LOVES MOANA!

Can’t wait to share more exciting things with you!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤
