I MADE A CARDIGAN!

I’ve had this cardigan finished for a couple of weeks now, but I haven’t shown you guys on my blog! I am so proud of this achievement. I learned how to crochet and made the infamous Harry Styles cardigan (originally designed by JW Anderson) all by myself! I never crocheted before and I never made a full-on clothing piece before. I had a lot of help from YouTube (thank you Liv Huffman!). I think I shared in one of my monthly favourites posts that I was working on the squares for this cardigan sweater. But I’ve finally put it together and I styled it, and here’s how it turned out!

Overall, this took me about 11 weeks to make. If I were to do it again, I definitely don’t think it would take me as long. I first had to get the hang of crocheting because I had never crocheted before. I had to watch a couple YouTube videos to learn about tension, etc. I also had to re-do some of the squares because the ones I started out with were not the same size as the ones I had near the end, BUT I DID IT! It was worth all the time and effort. The feeling of making something yourself and wearing it is probably one of the best feelings ever. I have never been so happy. It didn’t turn out terrible! I do think it’s a bit too long for me. Next time, I think I would make less squares. I’m learning now that altering a pattern so it fits my body is not as scary as I thought, and now I’m excited to make more projects!

I styled my cardigan with a simple pair of jeans. These are Levi’s. I think these are their “Balloon jeans”. They were returned at work (Free People) in my size, and I tried them on and loved them! The shape is great! I kind of wear these jeans with everything now. Underneath I wore a simple white tank that is also from Free People. I thought a simple white tank or white t-shirt would really allow my colourful cardigan to “pop”. I really just wanted my masterpiece to shine y’know lol? For shoes, I also kept it rather simple. White high-top Converse were perfect and tied well with the white tank top. I really felt like I wanted everything underneath to be like a blank canvas and have the art (my *homemade* cardigan) on top. The only accessories that I added were my newest Nunoo (the black Lin bag), and my Mejuri chunky hoop earrings.

TANK TOP – Free People

CARDIGAN – made it myself!

JEANS – Levi’s at Free People

SNEAKERS – Converse

JEWELRY – Mejuri

BAG – Nunoo

After finishing this little project and having it turn out much better than I expected, I really encourage you guys to try it! Crocheting is so easy. It took watching one YouTube video a couple of times and I quickly got the hang of it! If I can do it, you can do it! If you want to know the video I followed to make this specific cardigan, here it is!

Please let me know if you try this! I really wanna see how yours turns out. If you can, show me in the comment section! We can be the Harry Styles crochet cardigan club ha-ha!

P.S. I recently finished another crocheted piece that I can’t wait to share! It turned out so well and I’ve already received so many amazing compliments while wearing it at work. I’m so proud and I’ve been told a few times that I should create an Etsy shop and sell some! Would you guys buy them if I sold them? I know you don’t exactly know what I’ve made yet, but this is really something I’ve been considering! I’ll have to create a few more pieces to have an actual shop but I think I’m kinda into the idea. Let me know what you think down in the comment section below!

I hope you guys are all doing well!

Happy Monday!
