Okay, I haven’t done one of these in a while so you’ll have to bear with me! I just finished this book that was chosen for one of my book clubs for the month of August and I gotta say, I think it was pretty good! It was nothing like anything I’ve ever read before so I found myself not wanting to put it down until the very end. I love books that make me feel this way, don’t you?!
The book (like it says in the title lol) is called “Next Year For Sure” by Zoey Leigh Peterson. I honestly have no idea how to explain it without making it sound weird. It’s about Chris and Kathryn. They’re a couple that has been together for 9 years. They know everything about the other and are not only lovers but the absolute best of friends. Chris knows everything there is to know about Kathryn. He’s always looking out for her and always knows what to do to make her feel better. Honestly, at first I was a little jealous of Kathryn. Where did she find this guy? How’d she get him to be so caring and considerate?!
Then Chris meets Emily. Emily is unlike anyone he has ever met. He’s for some reason drawn to her and can’t stop thinking about her. He’s basically developed a crush. The relationship he has with Kathryn is so unique that she just wants to see him happy, and if pursuing Emily will do that, she will encourage it. Is that crazy or what?! I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I would feel comfortable letting my boyfriend take another girl out on a date. But apparently it’s completely okay in Kathryn and Chris’ relationship. I mean, Kathryn does end up regretting it and it does start to make her crazy. Two girlfriends? Like c’mon, what are we doing here lol? However, in the end, they somehow figure out how to create this functional dynamic between everyone.
It’s basically the most interesting read ever lol. Is this what dating it like now? Have I gotten old? I know that I have given a pretty detailed gist of it all, but I encourage you to read it! There are characters in here that are much like myself and think that there is no way that this kind of a dynamic can end on a positive note. In a way it doesn’t, but I want you to read it so I’m not going to say anything more!
Overall, I think I would give this book a 4/5 stars. I don’t want to encourage men to have multiple girlfriends but it was interesting to read about! I mean, I guess that’s the nosey person in me trying to know all the drama and how this all turns out. But let me tell ya, there is no lack of drama in this novel.
I hope I’ve left you with enough information to pick this book up yourself! My next read is: “Midnight Sun” by Stephanie Meyer (I had to lol)!
Until next time,
– Tiny ❤
