Monthly Favourites: July 2020

Welcome back, everybody! Another month has gone by and I have another bunch of goodies to share with you. I’ve got a great mix (I feel like I say this every time lol) and therefore I’m not going to babble for any longer. Here they are!

Ole Henrikson’s “3 Little Wonders” – I ordered the “3 Little Wonders” by Ole Henrikson when Sephora was having a Canada Day sale and boy, they’re WONDERful. Like the YTP Dream Mask, the texture of my skin is just unbelievably smoother. But my skin also looks really fresh and I’ve noticed that my pores are much smaller as well. I’ve been breaking out from wearing a mask at work all day, but if I didn’t have to wear one I think my skin would be in top notch condition! I really love these products and I wish they weren’t so expensive. A strong part of me thinks repurchasing them is definitely worth it though.

Youth to the People’s “Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask” – I’ve recorded a review on all the Youth to the People products that I’ve tried so I don’t want to say too much about this product. All I can say that is that it changed my life, and I’m obsessed with it. It’s honestly done so many great things for my skin. I feel like it’s helped with the texture and the hydration it provides is UNREAL. I highly recommend it! It’s just a thick mask/moisturizer that you can put on and leave overnight!

Antiquing – My sister and her husband moved back into the country and I visited them/helped them get organized a couple times in July. We grew up in the country and I haven’t really returned much since living in the city. I usually only go back for holidays and birthdays. Now that my sister lives there, I really get a taste of what life was like when I was younger. There isn’t anything to really do. It takes forever to get anywhere. I’m reminded that I need a license and a car lol. But what I do love about the country is their selection of antiques. My sister has the cutest antique store close to her new house and I plan on visiting it whenever I’m there now! I got the cutest home decor pieces, and now I’m just hooked on finding little treasures for my future home! I have no idea when I’ll be getting a home if it’s in the city though. Maybe if I win the lottery or marry rich lol? Either way, I’ve been loving antiques and if you wanna see what I picked up, watch the “July Faves” video I have on YouTube (link above)!

Long walks – For the entire month of July I went on walks in the morning for about an hour and a half. I would just put on some of my favourite shorts from Free People’s Movement line and walk at a steady pace. I realized a bit late that sitting around and not having any form of exercise in my daily routine would cause me to gain weight. I’m about 10 pounds heavier than I was before I was furloughed because of COVID-19. It’s the heaviest I’ve ever been and I’ve been super motivated to lose the weight and go back to the way my body was before. Unfortunately, gaining weight is much easier than losing it! But I bet you didn’t need me to tell you that lol. These walks have been really good for me. I like the routine in the morning. I think it’s a great start to my day and really sets me on the right track to having a healthy and positive day. Since I’ve been walking for over a month now, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my body and walking has no longer been a challenge for me. Yes, believe it or not, walking gave me a shortness of breath! But I’ve incorporated some jogging now and I am so proud of myself! I’ve also been changing my diet. I didn’t really think much about creating a healthier lifestyle before, but now I realize what all the hype is all about! I’ve honestly never felt healthier or happier.

Claw clips – I NEED A HAIRCUT. I know that hair salons are open now. The salon that I go to is open but I just can’t muster up the courage to go yet. Am I being weird? Since things have opened back up, I have been avoiding taking Toronto’s transit. I’m just not comfortable getting on a bus or the subway right now. Uber’s expensive. It’s a struggle to get to where my hair salon is located so I’ve just been putting it off! My hair is super long and I’ve run of ways to deal with it. My favourite way to deal with my hair is with a claw clip that I purchased off Amazon. No fuss, no muss! (What’s a muss?) It’s super easy and it keeps my a hair tamed and out of my way.

They Said This Would Be Fun by Eternity Martis – I’ve been a little disappointed with my reading habits lately or more so the lack there of. I just haven’t been able to sit down and thoroughly enjoy a book after reading this one! It’s nonfiction and based on Eternity’s university experience as one of few black women at a mostly white university in London, Ontario. This book was really eye-opening and I’m super grateful that it was picked for one of my book clubs. Believe it or not, racism is present in Canada and it’s just as bad as you think it is in the United States. Just because it’s not on the news doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I highly recommend you read this book because you can definitely learn something from Eternity’s story.

Nunoo bag (AKA Frankie) – My angel of a boyfriend spoiled me with this Nunoo bag for my birthday. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this bag a ton already but I had to make her a favourite even if it might be obvious. It’s the “Patchwork Donna” bag from Nunoo. I think of Frankenstein whenever I see patches so I’ve renamed my bag “Frankie” lol. I absolutely love her. I love the shades of pink, peach, and purple. It surprisingly compliments all of my outfits and I just can’t stop wearing her. Overall, I love any Nunoo bag but the fact that my boyfriend got me this unique/beautiful one says he really gets me. I’m going to treasure this bag forever!

That’s everything for last month’s favourites! I’m already looking forward to sharing the things I’m loving in August. Trying to be healthier and better to my body has really introduced me to a ton of new and exciting things and I can’t wait to share them!

I hope you are all safe, healthy, and well!

Until next time,

– Tiny ❤
