2018 Year End Reflection

I think 2018 has been one of the most exciting and memorable years of my life so far. I think it deserves a proper farewell so I’ve decided to reflect on the past year with a blog post!

Where do I even begin? For the past few years, beginning a new year has been rather hard for me. January 4th, 2019 will mark the third year since I lost my dad to cancer. There is not a day where I don’t think of him or what he could be thinking while he watches over me. I hope he is proud and I hope that he knows that I still miss him terribly.

I think the excitement of 2018 began in April when I got on my first ever airplane to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to celebrate one of my best friend/roommate’s birthday! It was an experience I will never forget! A) Because it’s made me realize that airplanes aren’t so scary and I want to see as much of the world as I can! B) We went and saw the drag queen, Trixie Matel, who we saw again later in September! Trixie is hilarious and Florida was amazing, and I wouldn’t have wanted to experience it all with anyone else but Molly :))

In June I turned 25. I’ve officially been alive for a quarter of a century (oh myyy)! I spent it with my boyfriend and then took off for the weekend with my gal pals. We celebrated in Montreal, which was another first for me! Montreal was great and I was surprised by one of my oldest and dearest friends, Emily. We drank the most delicious sangria and ate so much good food! I would love to go back and do it all again.

It was around this time that I also got a new position at TOPSHOP TOPMAN. I went from being a Team Lead to becoming the Personal Shopper! This has been a great experience for me so far, and I definitely think this role is more suited for me, too! I’ve been enjoying being more hands-on with the product and styling outfits/putting my fashion sense to work. I’ve also met so many great people in this new role and have made so many new friends! I’m so excited to grow even more into this role next year!

During 2018, I also ate a lot of ice cream. Although we sort of fell off with our Instagram (@theconequest), I still got to eat a lot of yummy ice cream out of it! Maybe in 2019 we’ll pick up where we left off?

In October, I went to the Philippines! If you haven’t read my “Tiny In The Philippines” posts, you should read them if you’d like to know about my trip! I’ve said a lot in those posts but again, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I got to meet a part of my family that I waited all my life to meet. I grew closer to my sisters, brother, and mom. I saw a whole other part of the world that I had always dreamed of visiting, and now I just want to keep exploring! Travelling is FOR SURE on the list for 2019.

To end the year, I spent Christmas at my sister’s. We still got a little emotional celebrating without my dad, but we have each other and we know he’s still with us even though it’s not in the way we’d like. My sister had FIVE dogs in her house, so you can say that there was a lot of excitement. They were a lot to take care of but we had so many laughs about it. Maybe a puppy is in my future for 2019?!

I also spent Christmas with my best friend, Jericho. He’s been such a rock for me this past year and I really appreciated him inviting me to stay with and meet his family. I had so much fun and I know I’ve gained another friend for life.

A little accomplishment that was made in 2018 is that I read and finished 20 books! Not quite as much as I would have liked but my goal for next year is now 30!

Now even though I had so many great experiences, 2018 had some tough ones as well. But I am grateful for them because I can say that I am stronger and I have grown, and I am ready for whatever 2019 has in store. Overall, I know that I am lucky to be happy and healthy, and that’s all I need!

I hope you all have an amazing start to your new year! Happy 2019!

(“My 2019 New Year Resolutions” will be up tomorrow ;))

See ya next year!
